The one with your fingers isn't anything to do with the thought of having them 'tied'. Your fingers will naturally tend to 'shut' when you put them in that position. It's just your muscles.

Charlie Pug yes, but your missing the point. In time it will occur on it's own do to the fingers relaxing. They get tired and want to be closed but since your friend told you keep them open your brain fights it to keep them open. But when your friend does the invisible string it affects your sub-conscience making your brain actually think that they are influencing you and speeding up the process by giving up on trying to hold it open anymore.

I used to do something similar to the "tying an invisible string around the fingers" illusion when I was a kid. I think my grandpa taught me if you ask someone to hold two rocks together tightly, and while he or she is holding the two rocks together, take another rock and make a circle around the two rocks being held together many times over. Eventually, you'll stop moving the rock around the other two, and ask the other person to slowly try and pull the two rocks apart. If done correctly, they should feel a slight pull of attraction - almost "magnetic."

horrorvictim Mathea Rossi Your fingers are simply attempting to revert back to their natral resting position, this trick has absolutely nothing to do with your mind or outside stimulation. You stretch the tendons in your fingers by putting them in the position that the trick demands, and so they are pulled inwards when they attempt to slacken/release said tension.

The imaginary string is not a brain trick at all. I examined and studied this is school as a project. I searched a lot online and stuff, here's what I got: The reason why our fingers always 'hug' each other is because our fingers are usually curled up most of the time, every single day, in every single hour, every single minute, and every single second. (You get it already) Even when you think our fingers are straight, they are actually not. Put your finger "straight" and examine it. You can see a curve along on the knuckles, it's not straight at all. Our fingers were made to curl up. You can even notice this while doing regular activities thru out the day. I always see my fingers curl while reading an book, playing games, or even holding something. I also took another examine, I did the trick that was in this video but without someone tying it and without thinking of anything being tied. I put one of my favorite songs on, that didn't worked, I couldn't resist thinking about someone tying my fingers together. So my mother came in my room while I was doing this trick, she talked about some thing, and I was focused on what she said and not on my project, and guess what, my fingers had touched each other. It's basically just our fingers curling up, that's all. Note: This isn't really what I exactly put on my project, I just added a few touches. I also got an A, from this (real) scientist, he said this study was really acceptable and he agrees with my report.

Another trick is to have two people, sorry for all dem loners, I feel you. You close your eyes, put your arms at your sides, and relax. The person(whom you should trust) will do a series of weird things while you still keep your eyes closed. They will first clap in front of your face 10 times, snap at each ear alternating times(5 each ear), and finally move your arms together and cross them 10 times like each arm should be on top 5 times. The person should then tell you to count to ten in your head and you say when you're done. Do that counting down from 10, 8,6,4,2,1. Finally stand back and the person should tell you to say the phrase " deadman deadman take me to my grave " over and over. You should feel your hands rise like a zombie

"The hands don't know what temperature the water is..." That's your explanation for the reason behind the hot hand feeling cold and the cold hand feeling hot? I've never heard of that... The left hand is dipped into the hot water. The water is transferring its energy to your hand, increasing its' temperature.. The right hand, dipped into the cold water, gives the energy to the water and your hand starts losing heat fast. After keeping both in, once they reach thermal equilibrium, you take both hands out and quickly dip them both into the warm water. The goal for your hands and the water is to reach thermal equilibrium. Your hands and the water need to reach a common temperature. The hot hand feels cold because it quickly releases its energy to do so. The cold hand feels warm because it's absorbing lots of energy at once. This is the REAL reason behind this. (:

@inevitabledeath
@inevitabledeath 9 жыл бұрын
That's part of the reason but that's not the exact reason! The real reason is that our body dynamically adjusts it's senses according to the external stimuli. The left hand got used to the temperature of hot water...where as the right got used to the temperature of cold water. (by used to..I mean the senses think its normal to have that temperature) After the both hands are put in warm water..our senses react to the sudden change in temperature with respect to what they found normal. "Hot" & "Cold" doesn't actually exist. Only the temperatures exist. Hot & cold is just our sense' interpretation of those temperatures. Same can be tried with other senses too. for eg: an orange will taste sweet after having a lemon; where as the same orange will taste sour after having apple.

@inevitabledeath
@inevitabledeath 9 жыл бұрын
Dj992Music No he didn't. He talked about transference of energy which is true. That's the physics of it. But that's not all that is going on. There is biology involved too. Our body responds a certain way to external stimuli. And our body constantly adjusts our senses with respect to change in external stimuli. Anything we feel, see, hear ..etc is our body's interpretation of external physical quantity. When any of these physical quantity change our body alarms us of the same. It does that by stimulating out senses. I think you have trouble understanding that "hot" or "cold" is not real it's all in our brain. (The temperature are absolute, they are real) Think about it, both light and sound are waves (although light has particle properties too but humor me for a moment) Then, why don't we "see" sound or "hear" light? It's because our bodies are not tuned to do so.

It's just your fingers getting tired ... As Dingus Kahn said: The illusion where your friend is tying your fingers together is not really an illusion. If you do it without a friend it will happen naturally because that is the direction your fingers fold in and since sticking them out is using more energy and strength then having them balled in a fist or resting upon something else they will naturally move inward.

The nerves in our body actually don't have the ability to sense temperature, and the only reason we know that something is hot or cold is because our brain recognizes things like ice is cold and boiling water is hot, and in this case, we know which is hot and which is cold, so our brain sends those signals to our hands. When the temperature is suddenly changed, it confuses the nerves, and that's why in the video her hands felt the opposite temperature. (It's like those optical illusions that produce the after images after you stare at them.) and this is also why we can feel heat from ice and why hot water can feel cool at the first touch, because the brain hasn't sent the signal to the nerves yet.

There's a cool one which is 'Imaginary Bubble'. You get a friend to stand in front of you and stick their arms out ahead. You do the same around their waist. You touch each others hands palm-to-backofhand You push in, trying to touch your hands together Your friend does the opposite and tries to keep them apart After a minute they suddenly pull their hands away You should feel a weird bubble in thin air, but if you move suddenly you can 'pop' it.

The water trick is simple. Your hands are not confused they just notice the relative change in temperature. They went from two extremes to a normal temp. It is adaptive instinct like when your eyes adjust to the dark.

Put 5 fingers against the other 5 fingers and start putting them together (not so much that they all touch). Do that for about 5 seconds (correctly) and it starts to feel like you have somekind of thing (board maybe) between your fingers. I know, really well explained. :I

Showering is how I learned the bit about temperature one, but I also found that I couldn't tell hot from cold once during a bit of foreplay. My partner had me tied down tightly but spread eagle. He blindfolded me and then put earbuds in my ears while blaring Turbonegro (you're on youtube; look em up). I couldn't tell which of the objects he used were hot or cold. I still don't know.

@rinaberman7686

Hot is a bit more extreme than warm. Hot is when something just comes out of the oven, or when it's summer and the sun is relentless, or when your hand is in pain under running water. Warm is more comfortable, like room temperature level, or maybe you just put on a sweater. It's really hard to explain, but I hope that's helpful.

So a trick my mom used to have me try was to ball up your fist really really tight, then a second person squeezes your fist even tighten for about 10-20 seconds to make sure it was really squeezed together. Then you slowly release your fist (VERY SLOWLY). Immediately after your fist is completely open and your palm is exposed, the second person touches each of the tips of your fingers very quickly and then they make a gesture that suggests they are pulling a tissue out of a tissue box in your palm. If done correctly, your nerves are completely numb after opening your fist and the image of something being pulled out of your hands awakenes them, which feels like your are pulling a presence out of your hand. We called it the ghost hand trick and everyone should try it :)
