Gotta love when a video is made about blindness and isn't made to be accessible to blind viewers... As a blind person watching this, I had no idea what questions they were answering. I'm assuming they were written on the screen but I had to piece it together based on their answers. The questions should have been verbally asked using a voice over to be accessible to the community it's about.

Kyle Davis Retinal detachment can happen. If your virtuous detached it can lead to your retina becoming detached as well. You can also go blind from diabetic retinopathy. High blood sugar can lead to eventual blood vessel damage in your eyes which can detach the retina or just simply cause blindness. That’s a couple of the every day reasons for blindness that no one talks about.

@pinklemonjuice2527
@pinklemonjuice2527 4 жыл бұрын
Actually they do see black because black absorbs all wave lengths which means all light so black isn’t a color scientifically but I guess I’m not everyone. Edit: I’m just going to add more because it seems that most of you are confused: black is the result when there is no light, intensity,energy,frequency or wavelength and a lot of you are saying that since they can’t see than they see no colors (including black) but technically black is nothing considering everything I just said, but tbh I was getting confused too reading a lot of these replies. So pretty much even if you are blind you will see black as hard as that is too imagine because black is the result of what you already read so I will explain no further and sorry if your still confused. And please don’t type “they can’t see so they can’t SEE black” because if you want to be that specific than it will be too difficult to put into words. Also thanks for reading my reply because it is long to read but it seems like there is always more to say.

Well, you don’t really need to have sight when doing your makeup. You can feel the brush touching your skin right? Then you know where it is touching. We can feel where the crease of our eye is and the edges of our lips so we then use that tactile prompt to apply. Yes some things are harder then others like the eyeliner but it is possible useing a magnifier or just useing our touch. Don’t believe me? And people ask what you see from that eye and you say nothing, and people are like: but dont you see black? You would reply with:No. We dont see anything because our vision isnt present there. The "close one eye" trick won't work, cuz your brain will focus in what you CAN see. If you concentrate on the closed eye, you will ""see"" black (aka you won't see). Close both eyes, in total darkness. You still see nothing, and still see black, cuz they're the same thing.

it depends what part of her eye or brain is the faulty part. If it is the brain, for example a tumour, it is likely her eyes can see but her brain cannot process the information. If, for example, the brain is fine but the eye is damaged, then the brain is perfectly capable of processing the information, its just that it is not getting any information. But if like me, it is the Optic Nerve that is damaged, then the wiring between the eye and brain is damaged, which means both the eye and brain are fine, but the connection between the two is not working.

It's actually very simple. Take a look at my message. You have some angle of view, right? I mean, you see some "picture". Without moving your eyes, can you notice where are the borders of what you see? Probably more or less you can see them, not some sharp borders, but more or less you know where you don't see anymore. So now, still without moving your eyes, keep following some imaginary dot which moves across the "border", and goes around your head, for example behind your heard or for example to the right (where you can't see anymore). What do you "see" there? Is it black? White? Orange? Probably none of these. That's nothing. And I believe that's what blind people "see". It's just nothing. Not black or anything, just nothing. EDIT: Oh, just noticed she said it in the video. "Being blindless is like seeing back of your head". Then I don't understand why people comment about it, she gave quite nice explanation.

Holly Adams True but it’s like they both said that isn’t a standard version of blindness… Not all totally blind people will have the exact same experience. I am basically totally blind and for me it’s like a layer of black-and-white kaleidoscopes has been put on the surface of my eye which occasionally allows dots of colour through, I have a bit of light perception but it’s almost like the light is coming from deep within a fog

"Do you still blink?" That to me sounds like someone that doesn't understand eyes very much. The reason people blink isn't because they can see. It's to reapply the lubricant of your eyes across the eye. Like a windshield wiper sort of. Notice how you blink more when you have a dry eye or if something gets in your eye.
