Big Blue the thing is there would be players who would be pissed if there teammate did that. The coach might be pissed as well. It has to be a star on a shit team to beat it, playing a team said Individual Player would have to play multiple minutes and just have a green light and have it fed to them. That’s the reason why Mr. Mamba had 81.

I guess Booker's 70 point game made Mike change his mind. Haha
@ronswanson34177 жыл бұрын
Pres Rock You can't adjust the records books based on perceptions and opinions. The records are based on facts. Events that took place. If you tried to adjust the record book based on opinions that concern era and competitive context, things would get crazy and confusing quick. People wouldn't be able to agree on much of anything. Some people actually think that the competition was better in the 60s because they only had eight or nine teams, meaning that all the best players were all on those select teams, and not spread out over 30 teams. Rules are also constantly changing too. Is Michael Jordan's 69 point game more impressive than Kobe's 81 because Kobe didn't have to deal with hand checking? Is Steph Curry a better point guard than Magic Johnson because the modern athlete is far superior to athletes of the past, meaning Steph has greater competition, so Curry's accomplishments are greater than Magic's? The record book would quickly turn into a joke list of records based on biases from "expert" opinions. Personally, I don't want that. Just keep a record of the events that took place, and let the fans debate over it. Its part of the fun anyway.
@Bubba___7 жыл бұрын
Stuff and Thaaangs very well said, but as it is already people can barely agree on anything.

Russell Ham that one is actually possible. Stockton averaged 10.5 assist through 19 seasons. And Magic averaged 11.4 assist through only 12 seasons and retired during his prime. If Magic never had HIV he would've past Stockton's record if he played at least 5 more seasons if you do the math.

The only unbreakable records are really the rebound records. No one will ever come close to Wilt's 55 boards in a game. Probably never hit 40 again. Same with Wilt's career average and single season average. Never ever.
@vg6667 жыл бұрын
Brian Sager yeah the league is too talented now
@justinperalta35707 жыл бұрын
True, Wilt in today's NBA would never average over 15 boards. His rebound stats are VERY overrated.
@briansager37447 жыл бұрын
Justin Peralta Overrated is the wrong word. I mean, he was still the best rebounder of his time. But the rule changes and change in play has made it all but impossible. Namely, the defensive 3 second rule and the fact that teams take 20 less shots per game, plus the rise in efficiency means less missed shots. I mean, 16 teams played yesterday and not one TEAM got 55 boards. It's just not going to happen.

In order to become a reality that someone will break the Wilt Chamberlain's 100 Point Game (around 101 or 102 points) are in three ways: 1. An NBA Superstar should be both physically & mentally healthy. 2. There'll be no INTENTIONAL FOULING from an opposition team (aka no Hack-A-Shaq strategy). 3. If possible, more & more OTs on a game. And if possible as well, if Mr Mike should include this list that someone could beat the most number of OTs or overtime in a single game which is there's a single game that had 6 OTs & it happened on January 6, 1951 on a match between Indianapolis Olympians & Rochester Royals: www.cheatsheet.com/sports/nba-the-3-longest-basketball-games-ever-played.html/?a=viewall In which I hope that in the near future, there'll be an NBA game match that made a 7 OTs on that night and an NBA Superstar even broke a record for the highest number of points in a single game on that same event. Killing two birds in one stone, and that will be exciting!!!

technically wilt would still have the most points in a regulation game
@IgnorancEnArrogance4 жыл бұрын
Wilt did it without the 3 point line, while the knicks were intentionally fouling the rest of his team to keep the ball away from him in the fourth quarter, and scored 100 with 42 seconds on the clock with no OT; so your last two points don't matter. It should be easier than ever to score 100 points now that everyone is shooting 3's constantly and freely because many players are horrible at defense nowadays, and are hampered by way too many regulations, like the gather step and the banning of hand-checking. Wilt dominated the game despite playing in an era where there weren't really any rules to help him, and defensive players could get away with all kinds of shady crap. Context means a lot in these situations IMO.

Irl I got a double double with blocks and rebounds. Would've had a quadruple double because I only had 4 points since people were ball hogging and I was literally open in the paint and had 6 assists, would've had 13 if people could hit open layups. I would've gotten quadruple double if people knew how to play and if that one guy didn't ball hog the entire time. So let's just say I had a quadruple double "technically."

Wilt’s record will never be broken
@jontysaini7 жыл бұрын
Great video as always Mike! Would like to a see a video with NBA Records that are unbreakable or pretty much nearly impossible e.g 55 rebounds in a game, 8 straight championships, A.C. Green's Ironman streak
@bricefleckenstein96662 жыл бұрын
Bill Russell's "rebounds in Finals games". #2 is WIlt - at about HALF the total. Lebron has an outside chance at #3, has to make one more Final and have a fair series - then he'll be at a hair ahead of Elgin Baylor at ABOUT 1 THIRDS of Bill's total. Honorable mention to Wilt's "50 point+ games" record - where he managed more of those in ONE SEASON (45 in that crazy 50.4 season) than #2 (MJ) managed in his entire career (32). BTW - the next season, Wilt "only" had *30* such games - and a 44 PPG average.

probably someone like Klay or RW could do it. I mean Klay had 37 in a quarter and 60 in 3quarters. So for him it should be possible, but I guess he cares too much about winning. Maybe in an losing effort like with Devin Booker, when a player from a tanking team gets hot they could get him to score 100 with force feeding and always fouling the opposition in order to get more posessions.

It's safe to say a lot of Wilt's records will never ever be broken. For instance, Wilt had 45 games in the 1961-62 season where he scored 50+ points. No other player has had more than ten 50-point games in a season. In his CAREER, Michael Jordan had "only" 39 games where he scored 50+ points.
@bricefleckenstein96662 жыл бұрын
MJ had 32 such games in his career - slightly higher than Wilt's #2 SEASON at 30.

the problem with 3's is you can double team a 3 point shooter and they'll be done but you can't double team a 300 pound 7'2 center who has good space awareness
@bricefleckenstein96662 жыл бұрын
Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Steph Curry, among SEVERAL others, disagree with your false opinion. Also MOST teams routinely doubled or even TRIPLED Wilt.

True about FT, last year I played backup PG on my varsity team as a freshman and I shot 100% (26-26) from FT. But I only shoot 80%ish at practice I'm just super lucky from the line I guess! I'm already 6-6 this year too so I hav not missed one in two years and 32 attempts

That free throw record reminded me of a story about Danny Ainge. Apparently, in one season in the late 80s, Larry Bird (Ainge's teammate) and Chris Mullins were both contending for the best free throw % for the season. Danny Ainge was a great role player and bench guy for the Celtics but he didn't get a ton of minutes and he rarely got fouled because of his perimeter shooting style. When he did go to the line, however, he was shooting around 95% for the year. Late in the season, as Bird and Mullins were both sitting at around 88% for the year, Danny Ainge got in and just started driving to the basket relentlessly for apparently no reason. He was getting fouled repeatedly and going to the line for a lot of free throws and keeping up his great shooting percentage from the line. No one knew what he was doing, but he had a plan. He was trying to get to the line as many times as possible because he was closing in on the minimum number of free throws for the year that he needed if his 95% was to be counted by the league. Eventually, KC Jones caught on and Benched Ainge before he could upstage Larry, which is a shame if you ask me.
@bricefleckenstein96662 жыл бұрын
Larry still would have had a few other years of FG% leadership.
