BLMN down 4% today, disappointing earnings, but it is intriguing. If you got in and performed some in the money covered calls - you can make 4-5% a month. But, it also looks a little like a falling knife.

Agreed. Being in the hospitality sector I can assure you that inflation coupled with ongoing staffing shortages will continue to affect margins negatively. We have the highest COGS I’ve ever experienced and the highest cost of labor as well with no relief in sight.

Yes, that is how you calculate earnings yield: earnings divided by price. However, the significance of that metric is what is important. The simple definition would be if the company you invested in paid you 100% of their profit as a dividend (as if you owned 100% of the company) then the earnings yield would be your yield on investment. That is why a 15 PE which equals an earnings yield of 6.67% is the minimum threshold I would accept investing in a stock. Finally, that is why earnings yield is so important and investors need to understand what it is when they are making an investment in a stock. Regards, Chuck regards, Chuck
