Always liked the original the best but the others are good to listen to also. Also the song has my name in the lyrics, "Mario".

All versions are good in their own way. Personally, I love Lobo's version best cos he makes the song smoother and contemporary ( as he does with all his covers ). We all differ in opinion about these versions cos our opinions are probably based on our music taste and personal ( past ) experiences. Anyway, thanks for posting this video - it was good to hear all 4 versions and see the different interpretations of the Cymarron hit ! Well done and kudos to all four singers/bands. 👍👏🙂🥰🙏

Thank you for posting this. I pick Cymarron because it sounds the best and I’m a little biased because my dad Rick Yancey was in Cymarron. He’s the one in the forefront on the album cover. He passed away 9/10/2021. He’s my best friend and hero. He was also in the country band The Remingtons in the early ‘90s with Richard Mainegra of Cymarron and James “Jimmy” Griffin of Bread.

Of course you're biased lol but your dad ( bless him ! ) sound good with the Cymarron - and he had a son he was very proud of I'm sure ! I'm sure he's smiling up above s he reads this !

Without any doubt it’s Lobo’s version of Rings for me 🥰
@dustystewart430 Жыл бұрын
Over the years, I’d only ever heard two versions of the song; Cymarron and Lobo… I was surprised to hear the Doctor Hook version, because I’ve always liked the band (Cover Of The Rolling Stone, Silvia’s Mother, Sharing The Night Together, etc.) though perhaps their version of “Rings” didn’t receive as much airplay as their other songs did… To me, the Cymarron version stands as the “definitive” one, though I may feel that way because of the song’s connection to a particular time and place for me, and how it was one of several songs that made up the soundtrack of my life in ‘71… And, even though it’s been well over 50 years since that time, whenever I hear Cymarron’s version of “Rings”, it STILL triggers vivid memories for me of that long ago Spring/Summer of 1971.

Dr. Hook and his ''crying'' singing voice has a bit of a Reggie sound to it. I love the bouncy rhythm and beat in his version.

Remember Cymarron’s version very well, but it’s Lobo’s version I pound when I get out the 45s. Is that Hal Blaine on drums; so tasteful and restrained with the delicate cymbal flourishes? 5:33
