Man I haven't played the game since 2008 in high school and every time I see them get anywhere near the crease I'm expecting someone's head to come off but the NCAA east coast game has so much more finesse and skill involved, it's way more fun to watch

Simon Jeffries well it’s regional I think. The east coast is where the best lacrosse is, but with that skill and finesse comes a drop in physicality. I played in the Midwest and the game was waaay more brutal that this. If you got near the crease you were getting destroyed, no question…if you put your head down to get a ground ball, they weren’t attacking your stick, they were launching at your head…much lower scoring too. But I’m in no way a lacrosse expert and haven’t played in years so I’m not sure. Definitely less vicious than football though, similar to hockey but lower speed collisions and no boards to crash into

Lacrosse, like any other sport, plays much better to screaming fans. Also, I'm happy to see that NCAA finally decided to implement a shot clock - a change that this sport desperately needed. . But an 80-seconds shot clock is far too long. 60 seconds would be much better and 48 seconds on the reset even better yet. The game is a lot more exciting when the players are under more duress.

I'd say lacrosse was fine for a LONG time without a shot clock. Then we had over-coaching enter the picture and position players. Instead of up-and-down run 'n' gun lacrosse, it was...hold on, let me get my subs in, let me get my d-mids off. And then, there was expansion of DI so you had really overmatched teams just sitting on the ball hoping to eek out a 6-5 win against a much better team. Pretty much people starting taking lacrosse too seriously. The game is about fun, scoring, speed. Go out, see who can score the most goals, and don't act as if the world will stop if you lose. That's pretty much the biggest problem across all sports these days - we treat them as life and death and overanalyze and overcoach everything. Roll the ball out and play. If you lose the lax game, come back and try again in three days;) Oh well, I have no problem with the shot clock, but PLENTY of high scoring lacrosse games in the 80s and 90s without one. Just saying.

They did not wear out in the 3rd quarter..With 4 minutes left in the game, there was a test of nerves.. The Wahoos did not become intimidated, and their goalie was quite fortunate....

Amazing game all around. A shame that the referees tried really hard to make the Maryland comeback happen with missed push in the back calls, bad endline decisions and missed shot clock resets, but props to UVA for powering through regardless

The refs made huge calls for Virginia all game long. (Justin being pushed into the crease to name only one) I counted 5 blatant instances which don't include times they called stuff on Maryland that they did not call the same thing on Virginia. It just seemed like they were "calling for Maryland" when they started to call the game equally.
