Really like Joe's setup. You're gonna hear from various sources that higher whip is associated with more advanced play and experience, but that's not necessarily the case. It is true that players with really solid fundamentals and throwing mechanics are better able to adjust to different sticks; they can also benefit from the added velocity and different release point of a higher-whip pocket. However, that doesn't mean that having more whip in your stick explicitly translates to being a better player. Some of the best players in the game like Connor Fields, John Grant Jr., Joe Walters, etc. use little to no whip in their stick to just have a smooth, unadulterated throwing/shooting motion. Moral of the story is to use what you're comfortable with. If your mechanics are strong and you can learn to pass and shoot accurately with a little whip in your stick, it's not a bad thing to try. If you try more whip and can't get the ball to your teammates' ears, go back to using less, because moving the ball will always be more important than shooting. The different setups in this video go to show you how different everyone's ideal setup is. It's difficult sometimes to fine tune a pocket for someone else, so rather than getting your stick strung by someone else all the time, learn to string your own sticks - nobody will understand what you like better than you do.

@phillipg13314 жыл бұрын
The knot that Byrne is referring to is the Special Interlock knot. Down through the mesh, knot on the sidewall hole, back up through the mesh. Very simple, very effective. There are variations with the interlock as well. My personal favorite, enthused that a pro utilized such a technique on a setup. #StringAtHome

These a super informational video, I always love seeing what pros are using - I strung and dye tons of heads for PLL guys, Josh Byrne’s stick is the best pocket to replicate at home that most people would be able to use. All of these guys except for Marcus because he’s using an Ultra Power, are pretty easy pockets you can replicate and have success with. People asking for the Ryan Brown pocket, ECD has a tutorial, but remember his shooting mechanics are unconventional to most because of how he hides his stick behind his body, and the amount of whip he uses. Ryan Brown, Garnsey or any pro could give you there stick but if you aren’t putting the work in it won’t make you a better player, remember - it’s the wizard, not the wand.
