Each situation is different, depends on the people involved. I've been a walker and a rider on trails and paths, I've encountered the good, bad and ugly on all of them. I have no issue sharing a path with riders as long as they act like I do when I'm the rider...respectful and conscientious. But if you insist on being an asshole, then you're going to know about it. Conversely, walkers also have to be aware that the path is not their exclusive domain. They need to be cognizant and aware of their surroundings at all times. This shouldn't be a big deal, but of course there are plenty of jerks out there that still manage to fuck it up.
