Well that was pretty damn good. I did Skytrek 20 years ago when it actually went to the highest driveable point in the Flinders, then there was the disagreement with their neighbours and part of it closed. This new Skytrek looks great too, I'll have to go back. Thanks.

Actually you still can drive to Mt. Caernarvon. That section of the property was sold to the YellowFoot Rock Wallaby Preservation Society and has since become a conservation reserve. A new track was graded and can now be driven by the four wheel driving public.

As usual, the photography is brilliant, both visually of this beautiful region, and the technical and thoughtful way the filming has been done. Clearly, you guys put a lot of effort into making your productions - with the combination of aerial shots, say showing you drive along a road, to capturing the broader colours and extent of the landscapes, also the way shots are often 'superimposed on another' make for a different approach over other similar 4wd productions. Love it as well, how you combine actual 4wding shots with interesting insights about a vehicle's running gear and other mods etc, to providing narration/information about the historical landmarks, and other really interesting details e.g. the pub you stayed in; info about the Aboriginal rock markings; geological detail etc etc. All in all, a really balanced show, which my family thoroughly enjoy, including our youngest son of 8, always that empty feeling though when "we all" must depart of course for another week, (e.g. when a given weekly episode must conclude!!) - as the dreaded, 'to be continued' message finally features, but ah well, something to look forward to next week. Cheers to you all and thankful. We certainly live in a great country! All the best and safe travels!

Great video and spectacular scenery! Reminds me of Utah/ Nevada in the US - can’t wait for the next installment! Terminology help from an earth sciences guy who loves you Channel: “Fossilized” implies that a living organism’s remains were preserved in stone. “Lithification” describes the process by which the unconsolidated sand ripples were transformed and preserved in rock. Immense pressure of overlying, deposited sediment expelled water from the sand, forming the rock. Cementing agents such as silica and/or carbonate also hold the sand grains together. So you could say that the sand ripples from a 500Mya sea were buried, “lithified”, and exposed by subsequent erosion.

The upper part of Skytrek looks very much like our high desert here in the States, around Eastern Oregon and SW Idaho. Ours is a bit more tan than red, though, and altitude is usually around 1500 Meters. It's always interesting to see what you guys down under are doing for the summer while we are enjoying our 0C to -10C temperatures during our winter months. It keeps us sane until spring arrives.
