In this video, I take a twin trunk Rowan Tree, aka, Mountain Ash, that I collected as a little seedling 4 years ago and give it its first trunk chop.
I discovered that branches are hard to develop further down the trunk with Rowans. They can look like palm trees when young as they grow top-heavy, so I hope to encourage branching to develop further down after giving it its first hard prune. Time will tell.
After giving this rowan tree its first chop it looks rather bare and shapeless, like a couple of bare twigs sticking out the pot, but I'm hoping that one day this could become a lovely twin-trunk bonsai.
Thanks
