Title: 3 Field Maples are Transplanted to Pond Baskets | Acer campestre | Bonsai
Digging up 3 young Field Maples that I planted a year earlier was a bit of a workout! I was concerned about the roots getting out of hand whilst they were growing in the large container, so they had to come out and get transplanted into pond baskets.
I made sure that I had enough bonsai soil mix to hand and prepared the 3 pond baskets with wire in case I had to tie down the trees into the soil.
I have to say that at some points in the video I didn't choose the best position for the camera as when doing the root work on the trees. My arm often got in the way, plus I'm trying to figure out how to improve the audio which can be annoying to viewers.
Acer campestre, commonly called Field maples, are native trees in the UK and I was keen on having a selection of native trees for bonsai development. Hopefully, they will one day become stunning bonsai, but for now, they're just young trees in development.
Thank you for watching
