She's very aware of her limitations, Maureen, isn't she?
She's one of the slower members of the group, she's a bit frailer.
Everyone's going and that means you'll have to stay here by yourself.
I think I might stay behind because I might walk so slowly, I might hold everybody up so that they leave me behind.
Maureen really doesn't want to be a burden on the group, does she?
But it's upsetting to see how much it affects her confidence.
Would somebody ask Fiona if they'll leave me behind if I don't get there?
How slow can you walk?
Well, I can walk but I don't know that I can breathe.

Aika is really smart. Instead of accepting that Maureen wants to stay behind, because she would delay everyone, Aika pushes her by asking to show her HOW slow she can be. :D Love that, idea. Aika does not accept leaving Maureen, but show me how slow you can walk. Adorable, and very social.

Yes me too! Here in America kids in schools have nooo respect for adults. Nor do they get any guidance from their own family homes. Then people turn around and blame the school system! I know its not a perfect educational system, but instilling respect and manners from a very young age really provides kids with positive interactions with adults. I see this dwindling. Parents teach your kids manners!

She reminded me of my grandma, who is really ashmed when she can't do stuff like she used to. These people don't seem to realize that they have done sooo much already in life, that now they dont *have* to be the same, they earned a slow pace, tranquil life without the pressure of being the fastest or strongest.

one of my childhood moment that engraved in my memory so well was when my kindergarten visited old people home like this, i didin't remember what were the words we saying to each other, but i remember they were so happy to see us, holding hands, telling stories and laugh a lot, we pray together and then we went home, idk why i remember that so well maybe because i only had 1 grandparent left at the time

What a lovely idea... teaches the children compassion & patience at such an early age... and it motivates the elderly to do some activities they might've normally passed on... it's a win/win .. doesn't get better than that!!

This is such a beautiful concept. It can work both ways. There are so many children who have no grandparents. They have no idea what it is to be loved from your grandpa or grandma. what it is to play with them. and grandparents can teach so much. This is a beautiful way to get 2 different generations almost 70 years apart interact and build each other in so many ways.

This should just be the norm for all aged care/child care facilities. I come from a culture where this is the way it works. The family is one large community and the younger ones and older ones look after eachother and all the others assume responsibility for them together.

Where do u live? Am Indonesian. Here, no old people live by themselves. Its either the family take them to their home, or one of the family member stay with them or move closer to them. Sometimes the neighbors help them. Putting ur older family member in nursing home is a very unpopular choice and considered as a mean thing.

This is awesome. Brings back memories. I thought this was done everywhere, until I grew up. My school system had us visiting our local senior homes from kindergarden through high school. We would do arts & crafts with them when we were little & we sang in chorus for them & played Bingo when we got older. It gave them some company & taught us to respect our elders. It was especially awesome to me since my parents were a lot older than most & I didn't grow up with living grandparents. For grandparents' day, I would give a gift to a senior instead.
