4-Year Sisterlocks Anniversary | Sisterlocks vs Microlocs, the Truth

On this one, I'm sharing my Sisterlocks 4 year anniversary (locaversary). As usual, it's a conversation join i the comments. I take some time to reflect on my beginnings and the real reason I chose Microlocs over Sisterlocks. I love my hair, no doubt, but Microlocs would have been just as nice, in my opinion. What do you think?

A lot of women are still wearing fake hair so when someone sees my braidlocs it is believed that they are fake so I get questions like who did my twists or braids I don’t see why because fake hair is shiny I have 4c texture hair which never looks shiny even tho I moisturize 3 to 4 times a week

Yep… People don’t come out and say it, but most of the time when they ask me how long it took to do my hair, I’m sure it’s because they think they are extensions. 💖

This was so helpful I got microlocks because same reasoning as a new mom but I had 280 once done then I been taken downs section and turning each locks in to 3 or 4. I am so much more happier that I continued and when after my goal right now I am at 330 locks, I have 24 locks to split to get to my dream look so I happy you gave your true story encouragment.

Your locs are beautiful. I went with Sisterlocks because I felt like the consultants are held to a particular standard so should do them well, but the price is ridiculous. If I’d known of a good loctician, I would’ve gotten microlocs. My locs are less than a month old so I don’t currently like them, but I’m patiently waiting until they gain length and maturity.

So, you mentioned that you did not like products on your scalp as a loose natural. What is your current moisturizing routine? Do you spritz with anything every few days, do you use conditioner or oils etc.? I am newly sisterlocked, so avoiding heavy products and cannot tolerate oils on my scalp, but my hair does feel uncomfortably dry.

I don't have one. I don't use anything outside of shampoo. I don't spray my hair regularly. I spray it to freshen it up when it smells like I need to wash it, and did not get to it. But that's rare.

So when they mature do the micro and sister ones look different?? Are micro locks “bigger” than sister locks ?? I still don’t get it. Your hair looks beautiful 😻.

Besides the method of installation do they aesthetically look different ? Both at the awkward stage and matured stage??

Microlocs have a range for installation. They can be installed with different methods. Sisterlocks cannot. You can start Microlocs with different types of grids. With Sisterlocks you cannot. You can install Microlocs that are almost identical to Sisterlocks. Sisterlocks are a type of Microlocs basically. You can have bigger Microlocs or smaller. You can install them with the interlock method. They will look most like Sisterlocks like that. Aesthetically in the beginning they are different but not in a bad way. When they mature they are more similar.
