I honestly don’t think most derms know how to truly get rid of this and most treatments are only most affective for fair skinned or white folks. Hyperpigmentation is always harder for us to treat.

Hello. I enjoyed your video. I have two strand twists in my hair and will be using the Sisterlocks shampoo for the time. You are so right about using other shampoos that will cause the hair to unravel. My hair is fine and will curl up. I normally wash my hair every two weeks and needless to say, I have to retwist my hair all over again. My husband told me that I need to just leave my hair alone for about a month and I was like that’s not going to happen because I need to wash my hair every two weeks. Hopefully when I wash my hair and retwist it after using the Sisterlocks shampoo, I will have better luck with my hair lockin up. It’s definitely a journey. I read to dilute the shampoo 2 ounces to 6 ounces of water ratio. You mentioned you don’t use a particular amount of shampoo or water, as you said it’s pretty much watery. I appreciate you taking the time out on making the video.
@AnnyKeyz9 күн бұрын
Yes… the Sisterlocks Shampoo does not need to be diluted but I did diluted to help distribute it throughout my hair. The ratio was always random. As long my hair was clean. I couldn’t go 2 weeks without washing in the beginning. But I was able to gradually increase every time. Now, I can go one month. So I wash my hair when I feel like it, usually every 2-3 weeks.

What r the rules? And what do you consider expensive? $1000?
@ruthiewhite733310 күн бұрын
$1200 for me back in 2020. I live in AR, and some charge up to $2000 depending on the length of the hair.
@AnnyKeyz9 күн бұрын
The rules are mostly whatever your consultant says is best to start your locs on the right foot. Mine were: you cannot wash too often or freely, you need to braid and band. You should not color or bleach. You should not use moisturizers (like moisturizing shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioners, moisturizing sprays, etc). You should limit styling. There may be more but these are the ones I remember. These rules apply from the establishment and last a few weeks or a few months depending on your hair. As for the price, 1000$ is not expensive, in my opinion. That was the price 5 years ago in Montreal, Canada.

Im thinking of getting laser for my KP discoloration. Please can you confirm whether the laser got rid of the KP discoloration or just the bumps? For your arms, use Kojisan soap, it got rid of all my KP on both arms, both the Bumps and the discoloration. The KP on my legs is a little more resistant. I use Olay Retinol night time wash and the Retinol has gotten rid of the KP bump on my legs (its super smooth) but not the discoloration so please do let me know if the laser got rid of the KP discoloration? I would greatly appreciate if you confirm 🙏 Thanks
@AnnyKeyz9 күн бұрын
I did use Kojic acid in the beginning and it did nothing. So I didn’t repurchase. I don’t think the laser got rid of discolouration because the places where I hurt my legs growing up or recently still show. However, the kp is different. Because the dots are much paler. Not sure it’s going to be the same for everyone but my legs did improve after laser.

So glad i caught your video. Do you have circumstances where random people will want to touch your hair? Have you lost a loc in the last couple of years? Any lint issues?
@AnnyKeyz2 ай бұрын
People ask to touch my hair, yes, but it is rare… I never had anyone touch it without asking (I don’t think 🤔)… I’ve have a couple slip out and just one break off in 5 years. As for lint… yes that’s a real thing, but it’s not enough to make my locs ugly. I remove the ones I see that are pickable with my nails or tweezers (rarely). I have gray hair coming in and somehow they make it down the shaft of my locs. Some of the white I see on my locs are grays so I leave my hair alone for the most part.

Your locks are inspirational! I'm sure you have answered this in a previous video but I have 3 questions: 1.)How many locks do you have? 2.)What are the best tips and techniques your loctician has shared with you? 3.)What does your husband think of your locks?
@AnnyKeyz2 ай бұрын
Thank you for the compliment… 💖 1.) I have about 550 locs. I’ve counted only twice in 5 years and came to two different number 560 and 550… So I say 550 cause it’s a rounder number. 2.) Mostly in the beginning, her tips to preserve the locs as they are forming were very useful, like braiding and banding, and not using too many moisturizing products in the beginning to prevent slippage and build. I think those were useful. 3.) We tease each other a lot, but my husband loves my locs. Actually, he doesn’t care about it much, he just wants me to be happy. I know it doesn’t bother him because he doesn’t complain. He loved my natural hair, my relaxed and everything I’ve done. I tease him with it all the time... flip it on his face and things like that. 😂 I couldn’t do that when my hair was shorter.

I have Sisterlocs, but I am probably going to switch to microlocs because of how hard it is to find anyone to retighten them. It has been 18 months, but I am moving. It was already incredible trying to find someone to install, but retightens are just as hard (if not harder because locticians are not taking transfer clients). It's just way too exclusionary and therefore inaccessible. It's just not very practical if you move often (~every 2 years)
@AnnyKeyz3 ай бұрын
I can understand that. I don’t know what I would do if I had to find a new loctician every couple of years. I had a very hard time when my loctician was injured for a few months and could not do my retightnings. Not fun at all. I agree, in this case, Microlocs are a good idea.

Thanks for your update! I have curly ends as well. I’m 6 months Sisterloc’d as of 3/16/24 and want to keep my ends curly…so after my wash days I add JUST A LITTLE of my oil blend mix to the very end of my banded sections prior to unraveling. I never put oil along the length of my hair though because I’m still in the locking process. I only spray my hair with water or rose water w/peppermint by Locsanity. My hair texture and curly ends are a lot like yours….so I hope mines turns out as BEAUTIFUL AS YOURS!!!❤❤❤❤❤

something that I don’t see people touch on that worries me. If you have thinner, low density hair this style looks great. But it you have really thick high density hair, it will be too much hair. I already experience that with regular medium sized locs. Sister locs would be way too full
@AnnyKeyz3 ай бұрын
I agree. However, the consultant usually does larger locs for thicker hair. That’s what I understood. The consultation is very important. 💖
