40,000 FPS - Faster than ever! - Slow Motion - Chronos 1.4

We hit a new milestone with the Chronos 1.4
It is now possible to film at over 40.000 frames per second.
A good point to show the difference in qualitiy bewtween different frame rates of the camera :)

They are shown just right before each clip. But you're right, in (most of) my later videos I show them right in the clip :)

No question the 1280x720 is the sweet spot, but the 640x350 still looks very good.

@@allgona Hi allgona, the lens has just a normal f-stop ring on it for ajustment. My current Workflow (not done in this video) is: For the lower frame rates my goal is to land somewhere at f6 with the help of the studio lights and going down the f stops with growing frame rate to the full aperture from around 15.000 fps onwards to the higher FPS. So I got mostly the same brightness in all the different clips. I try to normalize the brightness of all scenes afterwards in post processing so that they look like all have the same aperture. At least in the Region from 1.000 to 10.000 fps

The 40K fps mode is useful for research for sure. It's still interesting to show some things on KZbin, I don't mind the low resolutions on those shots. Seeing the cracks propagate in the glass was pretty cool, can't see that in 720p!

You're right, the higher fps videos show more information of what's happening - in some cases. If I had a second chronos I would record anything at 720p and with a higher frame rate just to show you details like the forming crack. But in cases where I only have one shot I will take the 720p :)

Btw I never update software on my Chronos, is it hard? Do I need to download every update that I missed or only the newest one?

It's super easy. Just put the downloaded file on a fat32 formaded USB stick, insert it to the cam and apply the update over the utility menue in the camera. The update takes only a few seconds. You just need the latest file: www.forum.krontech.ca

That's impressive setup for Chronos :o and for sure I need to do update on mine... I'm still in software version when it doesn't even support the HDMI connection, and trying to focus that thing in full sunlight without second screen is really hard.
