@@Kevlexicon use synchro scan for the light flicker. Different Hz rate in lights to your frame rate/shutter speed. @sludgybeast Жыл бұрын
That crazy since the highlights are worse, the colors are inaccurate-shifting to teal instead of remaining blue in the sky, brown of bark shifting green and a natural color saturation boost. Sharpness isn't a camera feature past resolution options- the focus is just on a different mark. Try seeing how much you can actually push the grade, DR, and colors in post rather than a stock rec 709 + filmic lut. Its wild that people think think this stacks at all against the Arri. All well, feel free to shoot with your films with the lumix.

@sludgybeast Looking at the video on my phone, and a 2nd time, there's definitely more flaws you do notice. But it's not night and day as you suggest. Regarding focus, if it's not sensor related kinda weird that they missed focus so much with the Arri? Anyway, I posted my initial reaction because on first glance I preferred the Lumix footage. It may well be different watching it on an IMAX screen, but on my laptop that was my initial feeling. Arri fan boys might get hurt feelings, but the gap has closed and if you have to pixel peep then that says it all

You could very much so film a $200,000,000 budget movie on either camera and get a great look. The biggest differences are much more so going to come down to set quality, location, lighting, sound, technical talent, acting, etc. We are lucky as filmmakers to be in an era where finally good cameras are accessible at a great price.

What is interesting is that with "Emotive Color" LUTs for the S5II/IIX, you can ensure your color graded footage can be interleaved with ARRI Alexa footage, so the S5 series can be used as B cameras along with the ARRI for those wanting multiple camera shots without having to redo the scene for a single ARRI Alexa. Now I don't have the newer S5II/IIX, but continue to use my S5 OG. Like the ARRI, I use MF Cine and Anamorphic lenses and use 5.9K RAW via HDMI to my Atomos Ninja V and Atomos Connect, which provides me Camera-to-Cloud features beyond Lumix's latest firmware upgrade.

A bit of both. The Lumix S5ii is hands down the best camera on the market in terms of value for money. What you're paying for with the Arri is: a world class cinema camera used to shoot all the biggest films, with all the features required for a camera team to operate and assist (camera team of 3-4 is industry standard practice), and therefore the ability to charge far more for your services. Along with higher dynamic range, inbuilt ND, native PL mount and most important of all... no IBIS wobble as can be seen on the S5ii. That being said, I have the S5ii and it's brilliant.

Lot more detail in the shadows and less contrasty on B. More bokeh and swirl on B as well but that may have been aided by the difference in focal length. Oddly, B felt more like full frame than A. B had a lot more DOF than A. A is still totally usable but might require a couple of things to make it feel more like B. Probably if you were not shooting in crop mode and open gate it might feel closer, but the dynamic range difference was definitely noticeable.

It's crazy how similar the two cameras look. But you can tell the difference by the sharpness and the dynamic range. The ARRI is sharp but not too sharp, and the dynamic range of the ARRI cameras is of course incredibly good. You can see that if you compare the two videos in the highlights, the ARRI has more detail in the highlights than the s5IIX. All in all, however, a very impressive and above all surprising performance from the Lumix. Good thing I bought it ;D
@mattiagl9 ай бұрын
The image quality in the comparison is pretty similar, but what gives it away are the artifacts in the angles produced by the stabilization in the lumix. It can clearly be seen that the image bends in weird ways when the camera is not fixed. Would be interesting a comparison without the stabilization. Also, the dynamic range is clearly different in some high contrast scenes, and it also helps to understand wich one is wich to a degree, but probably only because I've worked a lot with Arri cameras

The biggest "giveaway" was the highlight detail on the white house siding in the second shot, which is why I guessed that B was the Alexa. Dynamic range on B seemed better in most of the beginning shots, but there were a few later shots where the sky seemed clipped on both - maybe due to the grading and KZbin compression. Not sure. Greens in grass also seemed slightly more natural for B in the rolling hills shot, which was another reason I thought it might be the Alexa. Cool to see just how well the Lumix held up and could be matched pretty close.

HI I currently shoot with an older fuji Xt3 and im looking to upgrade. Im trying to decide between 2 full frame cameras. The new Lumix s5iix or the older Sony A7siii. My use case is video only and im currently focused on realestate videos and some weddings, client work ect. My main concern is for filming real estate in 4k60. What would look better a7siii 4k60 or the lumix s5ii 4k60 cropped? Most high end videographers in the real estate industry use a7siii. Taking everything into account, noise, low light, Dynamic range, image quality ect which is better. My goal to get the best quality for 4k 60 video. Thank you

What is that anamorphic lens used for the Lumix in this video?

These are the P&S Technic KOWA 2x Anamorphic

@@masterofcamera Say that I am shooting a film. I want the aspect ratio to be 2.35:1. Two options lay in front of me. I can shoot anamorphic or simply add 2.35:1 guide lines to the 3:2 aspect ratio I shoot in. Is there anything different about these or do they yield the same product?

Why you don't use a Color Checker to match this cameras?

I couldnt tell the difference from image quality/colours, but I can definitely see that B is much more shakier than A.

It could be because AARI’s color profile is naturally more flat but the lumix colors looked better imo
