Harold, The Talking Tree lying in order to take an extra £20,000 and leave the other person with nothing is a little bit different then lying about why you can’t make it out to a meal. Completely different levels of lying and it’s morally wrong. Pretty sure he shook on it too.
@joncooper73025 жыл бұрын
I agree that he was morally wrong in this situation but then he did say if he saw a shred of dishonesty he would steal. In a game about possibly stealing the money she gave him a 100% honest sounding answer she would split meaning he had more to go on that he would get the full amount. In terms of the game show I don’t think he did anything wrong

This is stupid, this isnt about trust. In any game it is the dominant strategy to steal. If you steal and she splits, you get it all. If you steal and she steals both get nothing. But you also get nothing if you split and she steals. So it makes 0.0 sense to split.

Guy A knew this and told Guy B that Guy A also promises Guy B that after he steal the sum, he would split the money after the show to Guy B to push him to pick split. Since Guy B wants to at least have the chance to get the money, he chose split. This would be in Guy A's favour since outright splitting would give Guy B a chance to steal like in this video. And of course, Guy A actually picks splits and this would lead this game into a guaranteed split

Now I’m not a greedy and selfish person, but this guy is the exact reason why I’d always choose the steal ball
@lamborghini0610 Жыл бұрын
With that logic you most certainly are a greedy and selfish person. Choosing the steal ball means you either want to take all the money yourself (greedy and selfish) or you walk away with nothing (because you and your opponent were greedy and selfish). Choosing it because you don't trust your opponent doesn't result in a win for you...The only option is split in my opinion. That way you either both celebrate and walk away happy or you walk away empty handed but with your dignity at least.

This show is like childsplay dumb. If you know anything about game theory, and even if you dont, you know there is only one (dominant) strategy. If you vote steal you are always better off then if you vote split. There is 0 advantage in voting split.
@cheekynandos36764 жыл бұрын
@@prokopf-9332 Not really. The underlying assumption of game theory is that actors are rational. Humans are far from rational actors and this is what makes the show interesting.
@prokopf-93324 жыл бұрын
@@cheekynandos3676 yeah i know they are not rational, but i assume the problem here is more that people lack the understanding of the concept. Im sure if the women would have understood all implications of the choices she would have went steal as well. There is a difference between lack of knowledge and acting irrational. I would have liked this game way way more if there wasnt one overlying dominant strategy. For example you would get like a 10 k base payout each, that is lost only when both steal. So if you split and he steals he gets 50k but you still get 10k, when you split you both get 30k. This would in my opinion make the game more interesting since there isnt a dominant strategy.
@cheekynandos36764 жыл бұрын
@@prokopf-9332 I see what you're saying but I think it's more than just the game theory aspect to take into account. I think most of the people realise that stealing is the only real strategy to "win". But some people value honesty, integrity, honour, loyalty etc. more than others and more than the financial gain they can get. Others sacrifice their values when the rewards gets high enough. There are elements of morality, ethics and human psychology that make this game more complex and interesting than what's on the surface imo.

How would you feel happy with all that money afterwards knowing you deprived someone else with your ' fake' trust? I couldn't find it in my heart to do so.

+Quarker duude it's a game, I would steal all day if I was playing, that's the goal of the game, everyone who plays it knows the rules and risks so if someone steals of 40k you shouldn't shit about cause that person without any money just didn't play the game well

+alexander van der burg i would have rather lost the money cause even if it is a game you would have crushed someones dreams and i wouldn't be able to live with that.

+Kumquatz really not? I could defenetley live with that, you play the game to walk away with as much money as possible, so I will do my best to achieve that, and some people are better at that than others...
