7:05 can't you replace で with に for 場所?
@Grondhammar
@Grondhammar 11 ай бұрын
Good question, I hope a native speaker comes along to confirm. As far as I understand, you need to use で when talking about an activity that will happen at a certain place, while に only specifies the location -- there's no idea of something happening there. That might be too simple though, and I'm sure there are exceptions or things English speakers think of as activities (like 住む) that 日本人 don't.

@@Grondhammar I'm not a native but I'm fluent and have been teaching Japanese for over 10 years if it's enough 🤣 You are correct that で always correlates to "doing something at some place" and に only to just "existing". They are not interchangeable, so で cannot be "replaced" with に, you always have to choose the correct one. Many beginners hesitate with using で, so a good approach is "am I 100% sure that it has to be に? If not, it's で". Please use で when none of the rules for に check out, it always turns out to be right.

@@LovelyAngel. Teaching for 10 years is amazing😮 Thank you, で unless it really must be に is a great way to remember!

Thank you for another excellent video! So many good examples & cute drawings! Egg-san being silly are my favorites! I just have a question about one example that I didn't understand. #37 at 13:19. I don't understand how you spend time that was wasted... I'm probably overthinking it, but I just don't get it😅
