it seems like a lot of people don’t realize that it’s not a gift if it comes with conditions or expectations. i think we can sometimes forget that a gift isn’t worthwhile or meaningful to the recipient just because we put a lot of hard work and time into it. after all we’re not children offering up our clearly horseshit crayon drawings to mom and dad, are we now? a gift should be given because it’ll be appreciated - not because of the effort that went into it, but because it’s what the person being given the gift actually enjoys and has use for. with all of that said, it’s also important to remember that once a gift has been given to the recipient, they are free to decide how to use or not use said gift. if they want to donate it or throw it in the garbage, that’s their prerogative because it belongs to them now. i can understand why that might be hurtful, but it’s not about you? the minute you make it about yourself is the moment you’ve admitted that the gift wasn’t given selflessly like gifts should be given, that it had strings attached to it so in reality it was a burden lol. if y’all aren’t careful you’ll turn into those horrid mothers who saddle their kids with junk they didn’t want and then lay on a guilt trip whenever they express disinterest in your terrible “gifts”! anyway the question you should be asking yourself is why your gifts weren’t appreciated, and more often than not you’ll realize that it’s because you didn’t do a very good job with taking your friends wants and needs into consideration, not because your friend is secretly a terrible person who is undeserving of your hard work! in fact the shite friend here is likely you with your poor gift-giving skills. the only exception to this is when a loved one makes a specific request for a certain item and then doesn’t seem to give a rats ass when it’s finally gifted to them. but even then we circle right back to point one - a gift is not about you, it’s about the person receiving it, and as such they are entitled to do whatever they wish with said gift. just like you’re entitled to never waste precious time making them a gift ever again!

I do want to clarify that I had asked my friend to choose what she wanted beforehand and made the items based on her preferences. I didn't expect a grand gratitude but I did hope the effort would be appreciated especially since it was tailored to her requests. I personally think it's more about emotional investment we put into handmade items rather than placing 'strings' on the gift. That said I respect your view and it's a helpful reminder for me going forward. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! ps. the tone of your comment, particularly the 'horrid mothers' part was unnecessarily harsh. It is possible to discuss differing viewpoints respectfully without making assumptions or comparisons. My intention was to share my experience, not to invite judgement or hostility.

While I love ur videos The fact you use ur own patterns makes it incredibly repetitive/predictable :/ I would recommend either A. Using other designers patterns (great way to support other smaller creators) B focus on making other videos/patterns until you make enough to properly make these videos

I understand where you’re coming from but these videos grow from my own crochet collection that I’ve spent over 2 years building! there’s more than enough content with a variety projects and I obviously didn’t spend days on a pattern/tutorial to only talk about it a few times. other similar creators are always included when it matches the ideas and styles I’m going for💗 I hope you find something you’ll love next time!
