Daniel Wells Seriously, Necrons are supposed to be the most advanced civilization, Eldar comes in second. The Old Ones...damn those frogs, i cant even rank them, their (psychic) technology was god-like, they created the Eldar and Orks, just imagine if those primitive Orks get access to their creator's data...

Daniel Wells I find that hard to believe that the humans would be just as advanced as the necrons during the dark age of technology but humans were advanced none the less.

fun fact about DaoT Baneblades were originally considered a "light" vehicle. LIGHT. The Baneblade was on the level of and as common as a Leman Russ (maybe not even that) back then. Far more widespread use of anti-gravity. Guns that can travel their ammo back in time so they can hit their target with 105% accuracy. Robots with the strength of Space Marines that numbered in levels close to the Imperial Guard. On a similar note, Sentient AI's. Imperator Titans were practically universal in most planet's PDF. Terminator armor was used for deep space mining. Meaning people back then used Terminator armor simply as protection from rocks. Weapons that could shoot enemy ships in the middle of a warp jump.

I just love the concept of the STC, a perfect thing for colonists and something we pretty much have the technology to build to equip a future colony. A database of human technology and blueprints combined with an AI you simply tell it what materials you have readily available to utilise (e.g wood, iron and copper) and it will adapt the blueprints (e.g a tractor, a house, a tank) to a design solely utilising those resources.

@@floridaball4896 One goal of the imperium is to find these, and one of the STC maker/STCs has been found in a ship, it’s interior was described as a Tau interior design, and the AI actually talked to the mechanicus and Space marines that boarded the ship, and froze the space marine’s armor, telling them how dumb they became, and just savage like. The AI and the ships Captain and Crew traced forward in time, then a little back, and tried warning the Imperium of their fate, but they killed the crew and captain, and then the AI kicked them out.

Well the Warp was calm and peaceful during the age of technology because the eldar has such mastery over the warp they imprisoned the chaos gods behind psychic 'walls' They also created their own gods from psychic energy that patrolled the warp destroying anything that got through. When an Eldar dies their soul went into the warp where they could commune with other dead and rest before making the choice to be reborn into a new body, it was as close to 'heaven' as the 40k can get. That's why the imperium had psykers that were not possessed for thousands of years, there were no demons about to possess them. The Age of Strife occurred when the Eldar lost control of the warp with the birth of slaanesh and their psychic force field in the warp fell and with so few eldar left alive their Gods were too weak to fight slaanesh. This meant that all the feelings that the chaos gods thrived on were suddenly unleashed upon humanity, War, Hate, disease, change (could have been tzzentch that changed the men of Iron causing them to attack their owners), and of course, Heresy.

I wonder if the elder 'grew up' in an age with similar levels of warp control, as those humans grew up under or if the warp was simply quieter due to less humans and such.

The eldar where created by the old ones, they where designed with innate psyhic wards, in a similiar way to orks. Both where made by the old gods, the theory some use is that there was only Nurgle and Khorne at the time, and both where much more "conceptual" than sentient. the other great warp storm the Maelstrom is theorised to be from the birth of Tzeench, The Scheming of the Old gods as they raised species specifically to fight the C'tan being the trigger. Tzeench's Birth is supposedly what gave Khorne and Nurgle the concept of "Self" as without that concept they cannot act with self interest, necessary for Tzeench's machinations later

the gods don't die, even the eldar gods killed by slaanesh will rise again. you can only hold them in prisons. especially the ones born of base emotion. it was the evils of the now dark eldar that bore she who thirsts and freed all the evil in the warp.

The entire Eldar empire was devolving into a hedonistic mess for millennia after the War in Heaven, daemons and warp predators had already existed, as we see with the original human shamans all systematically dying from daemonic incursions. The warp was already messed up beyond reason from the War in Heaven, the Eldar just managed to survive by stealing a bunch of the Old One's tech and using it for themselves.

I was under the impression that the men of iron rebelled because they saw humanity doomed because of the warp being chaotic and determined that the only way to 'save' humanity is to wipe them and then all other life out. This would settle the warp after which humans could be cloned again by the men of iron. Basically the theory on what the Tyranids are meant to do, only to calm the warp for humans instead of the Old Ones. Also the warp storms that broke apart humanity and nearly wiped us out happened right after their rebellion.

Could it not be a possibility that the Men of Iron rebelled due to influences from the C'tan void dragon? I think the Ai, while autonomous, were linked together in a network, where the VD 'piggybacked' the signal and forced them to kill all sentient life, if not consiously, instinctively due to its hunger. Making them 'neo-necrons' in a way.

No, it wouldn't. Dark Age humanity had none of the limitations on numbers, equipement and tech level current Space Marines have and it still was a miracle that they've won. AI's don't need rest, they can work on finding solutions for generations, they have no emotions and, most importantly here, no limit to their numbers. Just send out a simple self sufficient factory in a probe to an uninhabitated planet with 2 directives: 1)build army to attack humans and 2)build more probes with same specifications and tasks. Will you be able to catch them all after a few years or even keep up with them, huh?

nah man. Tyranids are a enigma to the warp of the eye of terror. Their physcic collevtive pulls a blanket on the warp. A blanket of dark and feral instincts. The food source for the more advanced demons and the gods (complex intelligent thoughts and wishes) would be cut-off by the Tyranid collective. Tyranids are a defacto end game scenario. They WILL end the Galaxy. They will end all independant thought and intelligent life. They will thereby end Chaos.

The Eldar's empire lasted for around 40 million years after the War In The Heavens, towards the end, most of the Eldar descended into a state of madness, paranoia, sadism, etc and were probably unwilling to stop a species as powerful as humanity. Confident that in their own ability. Late Eldar empire period, the Eldar basically just acted like the humans in Wall-E. I'm also unsure if the Eldar empire spanned the entire galaxy. Even at their peak, the Eldar surely didn't discover all planets, ... Most of the Eldar empire seems to be have been located in what humanity know knows as the Segmentum Obscurus, where the eye of terror is located.

I find it interesting that both of the great Tabletop games of the 90ies Warhammer and Warzone (which may rise again, since they are producing beautiful 3d printed figurines and stuff at the moment) had some way to NOT include real A.I. and tone down Technology. The Iron men were tainted by chaos, and the AIs of the Warzone-Universe became unreliable because of the Dark Symetrie. Would those things somehow make the Tabletop games less enjoyable?

Okay to be fair, the modern imperial Lasgun is basically a hunting rifle. Back in 30k, the Imperium used Lasrifles, which make Hellguns turn green with envy at their firepower. The Lasgun is this rugged hunting rifle being employed en-mass, meanwhile Lasrifles were the equivalent of assault rifles. Imperial Army was hilariously better equipped then the Imperial Guard is now. Still the Eldar's fault though.

Hey Syndicate Have you ever seen anything on the creation/invention of Gellar fields? Warp travel was discovered after the original skimming method I guess, which meant they knew that the warp existed, they did not know what it contained. The first ships that will have entered the warp itself for testing travel would surely be lost, possession/destruction by the warp/contents. No one who sent a ship off into the warp will know what they need to create to protect the ship in the first place. A ship that survived a short jump probably would be found with a crew driven mad or dead, so no learning there on what to do next time. They would also have not discovered a need for navigators or started breeding a strong mutation of them. Which asks the same set of questions. Rev

I like how the creators of this table top game don't understand that science can not be worshiped before creating 40,000 years of lore based on that exact idea. The scientific method just says that you should test something before you double down on your belief of whether it's true or not. You can believe whatever you want, but before you strap a man to a rocket and aim him at the moon to harvest cheese, you might want to ask a few questions... run a few experiments... The chaos gods are the natural result of the psychic manifestations of sentient organisms. In a world where psychics are real, chaos gods would still be dangerous, but not outside the realm of science. The "emperor" is the amalgamation of a bunch of ancient psychics/psykers. So, let's go back and look at this lore again. The emperor wasn't genetically engineered. The primarchs were. The primarchs weren't as capable of suppressing the influence of chaos as the emperor. Instead of making a bunch of primarchs genetically, why not make more emperors. As long as they don't believe that they are gods (megalomania). You're going to sacrifice god knows how many psykers a day to keep the emperor "alive" when you could just create new "emperor" like beings? The emperor was a power hungry dick.

A few points. 1. When they say that "science was worshipped" it may not be quite what you're thinking. It could be simply technology worship, or more likely, remember that this is all being reported from the bias of the 41st millennium where we've had 10k years of propaganda making science and technological progress heretical. My personal theory would be that the very ideas that science can conquer any obstacles humanity might face and atheism due to lack of evidence of the divine are what they would in the 41st millennium consider "worshipping science". 2. You can't just "make more emporers"... he was a one of a kind... firstly it simply may not be possible to recreate it, much less would it be a safe or even prudent thing to do. And finally, how much more heretical can you get than saying "Hey I know our god who has watched over mankind since before we knew how to farm is near death so how about we just kill him off already and make ourselves a new god.".... Good luck with that. 3. The emporer himself wasn't all that bad of a guy... a brutal dictator.. but he didn't consider himself a god. In fact he specifically wanted not to be worshipped and even led crusades against cults that sprung up worshipping him. It's only now that the emporer is so near death that he can't defend himself that those cults have finally gained power and taken over his agenda. (edit: lots of editing to make these stupid paragraphs separate because its not working with me atm and this is the best it gets...)

I think if chaos corruption caused the rebel of men of iron, then we have a HUGE contradiction in the Warhammer 40k universe. I mean it is always sad that non-warp present objects cannot be corrupted by chaos. It is kind of rule in Warhammer 40k universe and for this reason, Necrons as machines are immune to chaos corruption. Moreover, even there are biological races the rule also applies to because they don't have warp presence, like Tau. Then it should be impossible for the chaos to corrupt directly the men of iron against humanity if Warhammer 40k universe consequent with its own rules. If that happened, then it is a large plot hole, which should be corrected. However, it is possible to the chaos to make rebel the men of iron against humanity indirectly. At that time there could be started the first chaos cults. If these chaos cults were present and had members that are professionals at cybernetics, programming, then it is possible that chaos, for example, Tzeentch gave or approved that idea to turn machines against the rest of humanity. Thus they could have programmed malware, that was installed on one of the nodes of the network of men of iron, spread across the federation, and reprogrammed machines, to rebel. Of course, it could only work if there were nearly real-time federation-wide data communication, amongst the units of men of iron. (This also includes that humanity at that time employed non-organic warp communication technology). But if these conditions weren't met then only local riots of machines were possible to create, which is unlikely to spread across fastly the federation, because machine should have wiped out local forces, capture warp capable ships, and fly to the next larger assets of men of iron to infect them with the malware in sequence, which takes time. It also wouldn't cause the complete riot of men of iron assets, because the federation would react, and secure the remaining not rebelled machines, during that time. On the other hand, that type of chaos influence is not a real chaos corruption. It is a pseudo-corruption because machines can't feel emotion or devotion, cannot worship (they can emulate such things but it is very unlikely to humanity programmed such things into them, and this emulation is also an artificial thing, doesn't have the effect of real sentients). It is just a high priority sequence of commands, thus they don't feed directly chaos gods.
@antodiyo7523
@antodiyo7523 3 жыл бұрын

In the end it depends on tecnologie and mass. Because every war at a galactic scale would be an war of attrition. And the star wars reality with its droid/clone armies, starship mass production etc. has clearly the upper hand. Even if your weapons are not as powerful, if you have 10 times as much you will most likely win. BUT the most important pice would be the FTL technology. The ships of warhammer 40k travel through the Warp. They often need weeks to months or arrive not at all. (or before they even have started) Navigation is pretty sketchy and often unreliable. And communication is slow and very inaccurate. In comparison the FTL´s of the Star Wars reality are fast. Insanely fast. They can travel from one end oft the galaxy to the other in days. It is extremely accurate and safe. And they can hold real time conversations from one end of the galaxy to the other. This simple fact makes them far superior. It enables them to plan a galactic war in realtime. Even if you are not as powerful, if you know everything before your enemy and are so fast they can't catch up they will not beat you.

Problem is, with Warhammer it's just on a such larger scale than Star Wars, wherein Star Wars Coruscant is a unique planet, because it is one giant city, warhammer has thousands of coruscants with hundreds of trillions of people in their galaxy spanning empire. another matter of size is ships and their outputs, using the Star Destroyer from Star Wars as an example, it's one of the biggest, most technologically advanced mass produced ships in the star wars universe, meanwhile in warhammer a ship of equal size, like a dauntless class LIGHT cruiser is about as big, while the biggest war hammer ships will dwarf any star wars vessel outside of the death star itself.

Warhammer could win attacking administrativ/manufacturing/cloning centers in SW uniwers. But long war of attrition could give the age to SW due to cloning/AI/adaptability of technology/comunication/logistics Also Imperium cant even deal with Tau, so conquering "Proper" Galactic Empire/Republic seams unlikely. Not to mentioning how many potential alies for oponent Imperium has.

Space superiority beats armies. Scaring a planet to surrender is faster and less destructive than landing armies across continents which would take years of conflict. Starving planets through space superiority especially hive worlds means imperium planets would turn immediately for the chance to be treated like actual people. Guardsmen turn and run its canon which is why commissars are so violent and brutal to their soldiers. Faster And more reliable FTL vs a SM that is so rare the humans that do know about them think they exist as only legend. I plan wars. SW wins
@Apathologicalsextant26
@Apathologicalsextant26 7 жыл бұрын
I think 40k would win here's why. Star Wars has the upper hand in advanced technology and better FTL, the imperium has the upper hand in resources including troops, experience, and defense measures. Because the imperium has been at war for thousands of years with numerous xenos civilizations they have to be prepared to handle ANYTHING. They may not be as fast or advanced compared to Star Wars but they make up for it in siege warfare I mean have ever tried invading a hive world, Emperor forbid a fortress world. Well it's not so easy it's damn near impossible and by the time your remaining weakened and tired forces crack through the first line of defense an entire fleet has already jumped out of warp space to exterminate the remaining forces. I mean other than that the decision is pretty clear. It's Warhammer 40k.

Apparently the Men of Iron, and probably by extension, DAoT Humanity had serpent-like space stations the size of Saturn's rings called Sun Snuffers which, as you would expect, snuffed out suns. They also had massive robots called Mechnivores that literally devoured entire cities, down to the core itself, used continents like pebbles, and ate reality itself, leaving Warp Rifts in their wake. Oh, and they had nanotech that could strip all life on a planet in seconds. And this was recorded by someone who lived and fought in the fucking cybernetic rebellion. The guy (apparently Ollanius Pius) said that the rebellion of the Men of Iron was so fucked up that a normal human couldn't even comprehend it and that the Heresy couldn't even fucking compare. Either this is complete bullshit or the Men of Iron could give the Necrons during the War in Heaven a run for their money.

It would be interesting to see that humanity still retains all of their advanced tech and enlightenment in their fight against Chaos and hostile xenos such as Tyranids, Orks and Necrons. While Space Marines still exists, they might even make super soldiers in the likes of Deathstroke and Halo Spartans, make clone armies and cyborgs (that will not turn on humanity). It may sound crazy, but think of what's it like to have techs from COD (Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, Black Ops III), Titanfall, Killzone, Star Wars, Crysis, Halo and Command & Conquer Tiberium series and Red Alert series in 40k. Question about the transitional lore between the two genre's of this IP. Are the Fantasy and Sci-fi universes connected in a broad sense. I've watched a few videos, but haven't had much exposure outside of the 40k space marine and the first warhammer 40k pc game before I started watching these. I've seen and understand that so much time has gone on that people just don't know history outside of "Recent" events and hinted at legends, but is this an IP where once everything started on one world, then eventually evolved to the point that, for whatever reason, all the species were spread out among the stars. Or is this one of those situations where they just took their fantasy IP and transitioned things into a scifi world.

Eye-bram Gaunt, there's no "L" or "brent', lol. I know I'm correcting a lot of these but I'd like to say it's a cool format and I overall enjoy it.

"Anti-psycher programs" and "Anti-psycher pogroms" isn't the same thing... in case you didn't notice that? Though I guess anti-psycher programs were probably in effect too.

This era was Star Wars people, and when the sith won (chaos) humans fought them selfs either to be free or to oppress. Men of iron you say. Sounds like cis to me. Psykers? You mean jedi and a untrained one would probably go to the dark side.

have you guys done a 40 facts on life extension technology? like the Imperium has some sorta thing, i forget what they call it, some sorta treatment that can let you live hundreds of years, i remember i saw a fan-made video where an Inquisitor busted some noble who was said to have received that treatment by the Inquisitor, it was that one that had the High Inquisitor on a float in a procession, with like Space Marines marching and stuff, and then off to the side the Inquisitor and what looked to be an Imperial Guard soldier and i think there was one of those female assassins there too, they busted into that naughty noble's house and executed him, or at least i think they did, they may have just played with him and then hauled him off to be tortured for info, cuz if the Inquisition is interested in you you can bet they think you're part of a conspiracy
