A mind overwhelmed with hardship and unrelenting burden has no time for thoughts of sin, but when a moment does come, fleeting though it may be, it stands out against the darkness of life as a burning candle of possibility. For many who stray, sin is not an act undertaken for the sake of rebelliousness, but rather as a way to find relief -- relief from constant struggle, relief from dogmatic rules, relief from restraint. 6:38 Slaanesh has always been rather "explicit". Just look at some of the older sculpts of slaaneshi demonettes as well as pretty much all fan made art. It's all pain, pleasure, exposed nipples, piercings and every kind of sinful desire. It is what makes Slaanesh different. GW has in later years, toned this down quite a bit to appeal to their (still) younger audience. This is of cause understandable from a business perspective, but I still miss the old days were is was OK to show skin and flash a nipple or tree on the battlefield.
@unsuspiciousdweller89674 жыл бұрын
The weird thing is: the universe of 40k was never built for a young audience. While it may make sense from a business perspective, they essentially have to create two different products if they want to keep this up: one to appeal to the younger audience, and one to the current fans that embraced the grimdarkness and explicitness. Imagine if manhunt, postal, or even the SAW series tried to adapt for a younger audience.
@dans90972 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's all just appealing to puritanical censorship laws? Even a PG-13 movie like Man of Steel can have the "truth, justice, and the American Way" guy snap a man's neck before he lasers a family, but a few bloody noses, or literally three extra swears would warrant a review by the MPA (MPAA). A Slaaneshi demon ripping a man in half is easier to get published than the exact same picture with an exposed nipple on the female half of its chest (don't worry, no metal cover for the "male nipple", clearly that's different)

Hey Guys. I always asked myself: What would it be to adjust the unit stats from the game to the real abilities based on the novels. Sure, there are different interpretations from different authors but maybe there is a middle way to do that anyway. For example: In the game has a punch with a combat weapon done by a chaos cultist has the same effect as a shot with his autogun. Assuming the autogun is an equivalent to a M16 assault rifle, this is ridiculous right? It would be strength 8 and the armour penetration would be -4 or so.... Next example: In the game you get 2 Standard Orks for 1 Standard Space Marine point wise. But in the novels 1 Marine probably could handle lots of more Orks with ease. So his base strength would bei maybe St.6, his armor would be 2+ or even better... I am aware, that the existing stats are made for sake of feasibility in the game but I think you get my point..... Lets assume, that the base line of our thought experiment are the stats of an imperial soldier. What would the stats from other units would be based on a more scientific view?
@Killtime10133 жыл бұрын
The main problem is that 40k as a whole is too wide and scaled huge to ever have the possibility of telling every single kind of damage or on what scale it should be from every model of weapon, armor, and vehicle/mark of every weapon, armor and vehicle. This is mainly due to games workshop making a strategy game based around maneuvering armies/squads around and having those units smash into each other, with potentially dozens of units each with their own mechanics and features and ways to play. That is why they just make everything have "wounds" and "mortal wounds". On smaller scale games such as the more roleplaying ones it is more or less possible/potentially encouraged to do so. Mainly since the purpose of the game is to tell a story/orchestrate the series of events happening to a smaller group of characters/entities for the interesting factor of such small scale events with detail. While it is possible for army stuff in a smaller scale roleplay game, you more or less encounter the opposite issue of what you are talking about. As in the whole "How do I actually represent this blob of guardsmen as each individual one or this group of tanks as each individual one without bogging down my game?" one. Mainly though, what I am believing you are wanting is something that is currently straight up impossible to due with our rate of calculations and communication our fleshy bodies can do within a limited timespan. Video games/ military sims can actually excel at this multi-tasking due to the hardware being more able to potentially display and calculate both the scenario the characters themselves are experiencing while the armies in the distance are blowing up each other and smashing together and such grand scale stuff at the same time. TL;DR With massive scales (if you want to have the game play in any reasonable amount of time) comes the loss of details and vice versa on tabletop games due to our relatively slow thinking processes in our bodies compared to computers.

It seems to me that while violence may be 'okay' in society, sexual depravity and addiction are what the vast majority of people can grasp in their lives. It is the power of enslavement, while violence is the power over life and death. Death being final, its hard to complain once you no longer breathe or think. I would argue that more souls are damaged and fed upon thru the powers of sexuality and addiction than pure violence. You can be violently killed without betraying one's own morals or principles. Every human is already keyed to take great pleasure from sex and drugs, leading to dark places from which a person succumbs to those forces, or to constant struggle to reclaim a brighter human existence. Violence is a solution, while sexual depravity and addiction are ways of being. Its the bite of the brown recluse that poisons and kills, not the tarantula.

Honestly I see society as a faceless mass of people. Also being over concerned with society is quick way to start stripping oneself of individuality. Because people will put the needs and wants of society before their own. So long as you are not hurting yourself or others and fully willing to accept the consonances of your actions, you are contributing to society. The idea of society is also a slippery slope. Because the extremely negative aspects of group think can rear their ugly head.

Read the Fabius Bile novels - a lot of the Emperor's Children who follow him are just like this, but his contingent of Kakophoni (the actual Noise Marines) seem genuinely content. They have transcended their own egos and petty pleasures to become part of the Song of Slaanesh, and when not fighting isolate themselves completely from their unenlightened brothers, tending their corrupted wraithbone garden and communing with the song which they can hear constantly. They are oddly selfless and humble creatures, quite unlike the desperate ultra-sadistic addicts who form the majority of the legion (and from which they have themselves *evolved* to become what they are now). They are also the only ones who display any deep religious feeling towards their patron deity.

I guess it depended, in some local areas of the imperium, sector governors, planetary leaders do have accords with alien neighbours that are no doubt monitored at least by the ordo xenos. Necromunda for instance does trade with eldar, as they have areas in their hive cities specifically to house both them and other alien delegates temporarily. The thing with the imperium is that most of its wars probably occur at localized levels (ie particular imperial sectors decide whether to fight their neighbours or leave them be etc.) With the exception of the long war (chaos) and against galactic threats like the Tyranids.

What a shame theres one noise marine figure from games workshop and it looks so lame. Theres 0 body horror and the guitar just isn't badass at all.

Not even 40 facts, just reading off the wiki for 6 mins then padding the video out for 4 more to hit the 10 min mark.
