Question : Why dont the Imperium retrofit virus bombs into "missiles/torpedos" instead and hunt down the Tyranidfleets, and just unleash it upon them? Or are the Tyranids plot-armored against the effects of it? I get that Tyranids will adapt to it, but given the rapid destruction on say planets when its used for Exterminantus, do they have enough time before it would consume the hive fleet?

They’ve already adapted to it and just eat the virus. There is a strain of virus that does work on them and has been used before. But in order to make it they need a sample of that fleets norn queens DNA. Which is a bit hard to get to....
