My mother was driving a giant 1960 Ford station wagon down a steep, narrow mountain road with me and my four siblings when the brakes went out, and managed to stop it by scraping along the side of the mountain. She also managed to not hit a work crew that was prepping the road for paving. As an adult I’m surprised that she didn’t end up puking from stress and relief.

I don’t have video evidence but I do have scar evidence. A couple months ago I was riding my bike when my handle bars started tilting towards the right, I tried to fix them only to have the ripped out of my hands. The handle bars did a 180 and I impaled myself in my upper thigh right at the crease between my thigh and my hip. Well the wound was 5 inches long I got 16 stitches and I almost punctured my main artery. You could literally see the artery if you looked into the scar. Now I have a wicked scar there.

In 1970 I was the only sailor in the torpedo room of a nuclear-powered submarine that was onloading a warshot rocket with an atom bomb for a warhead at a 45-degree angle into the room down a sled via a rope. The rocket caught on the tread accidentally and the rope slackened leaving the atomic bomb laden rocket to be on that sled unmoving strictly by what is called static friction.
