The topography is impressive, but love the design of the base. - Chris

What a beautiful piece!

Yeah, Andy, I agree with you that adding the trim pieces to the top and bottom of the bent laminated skirt sections was a stroke of genius. Good going on the many other complicated elements - including the CNC milled leg joinery. Anyone who thinks CNC milling is easy needs to give it a go. It's not easy, but can accomplish - and do so repetitively - things that would otherwise be very challenging to accomplish. And regarding the steps that you had to sand out, I would imagine that it's due to the stepover distance you've set in your toolpaths for the last milling pass. I've noticed, however, that even companies specializing in custom carving who use CNCs, only use them for "rough" carving. A master carver will then take over and finish it off in exactly the same way you did - hand carving and sanding. Terrific custom table, my friend.

Beautiful and practical all at the same time. Any hunting lodge, deer lease, national forest or national park should have something like that. I've seen terrain features carved and then filled with clear epoxy, but this is a much better look. Well done.

looks beautiful, but at the beginning of the video I thought that the epoxy would completely cover it on top, but no,good job Andy

When running the cnc programs, did it run the full program non stop or did it get paused at the end of each work day?
@AndyRawls29 күн бұрын
There were 6 tool paths to run and each one ran continuously from start to finish. It was briefly paused in between tool path changes.

it would hqve been really cool if you included a scale on the top, or evn on the sides of the apron, so people could see how far things are

I assume it’s designed to have a round piece of glass on top?

Beautiful piece, Andy. I couldn't pick out the color difference on the top until the very end. The camera must have masked it. Bill

So tired of patreon you already are sponsored. And sell high end furniture. How much more do you need.

interesting concept. functionally its useless.
@AndyRawls28 күн бұрын
It’s actually not useless but I don’t think I explained its purpose well in the video. It goes in a welcome lodge at a large camp here in Texas. It allows visitors to see the camp property and the plan is to add brass markers on important points on the map.

@@AndyRawls you titled it as a 'table'. thats what's confusing. if you called it a table top map or table top topographic map that would make more sense
@oleghh25 күн бұрын
Yeah I was imagining a thick piece of glass on top to actually make it a table
@SP-ki5gn24 күн бұрын
@@HenryLeslieGraham Well the word table derives from the Old English 'tabula' (‘flat slab, inscribed tablet’), so he's not far off! Beautiful creation either way.
