Hello, I'm Kazu, a Japanese carpenter.
This time, I was renovating a traditional Japanese-style room into a Western-style room in a lightweight steel-framed house in Japan. However, during the construction, we discovered a massive termite infestation. What was supposed to be a simple renovation suddenly turned into a large-scale remodeling project.
Unlike wooden houses, lightweight steel-framed structures often require complete demolition when even a small section is removed due to structural constraints. In this video, I’ll show the real struggles of a Japanese carpenter who has to decide how much to demolish and how much to repair within a limited budget.
