You are right on that Suunto stuff being expensive. I have a couple of the quadrant compasses and I think they were about 200 each. I was college educated to be a land surveyor and ended up a logger, lol. You know how it is, family business. I would like to have an inclinometer to use when planning how to cut some tricky spots with the cutter cause I know that 70% is pretty much the limit for me. Actually I could use one tomorrow. I have to cut a super steep hillside right above a State Rd. and eyeballing I think there is only one place I can get down it, but it has a slightly flat lip around the bottom and if I can get to it without sliding all the way off in the road I think I can get just about all of it with the machine!!

Copy. These combo Suunto's new are over 300 I think when I was looking for one. I kept an eye on Craigslist quite a few years ago and eventually this one came up, basically brand new, the guy had used it once to aim his tv satellite dish he said and then didn't have any use for it. I use it quite a bit, just the way you're saying. Sounds like you've got a dicey spot in store for you tomorrow. Places like that always make me think of one of my favorite Allman Bros Band songs, Ain't but one way out. Hopefully there's no powerline on your side of the highway to raise the stress level up. One thing about tough stuff, it always feels good when it's over! So does a cold beer, right? Be safe.

@@timberslasher4899 Isn't that the only upside of getting older, you don't have to make the same mistakes over again? Sounds like a good call. I was up against a tough little block Friday too, I finished up the unit on Wednesday with the exception of this steep face above the lower spur. It's been really wet and the weather called for a break on thurs and fri so I decided to layout a couple of units and give it a chance to drain. Hit it at 5 AM on Friday and got all but 25 stems, I hit them from all sides and just couldn't hold on enough to get to them. Have to let the handfallers show me how it's done. Good luck on your ground when you get back to it. Be safe!

Nice vest! Thanks for the info. Like those pockets, especially those big inside pockets. (I call "em shoplifter pockets😀) The lined pockets also coulda used them a few times! Near the end of my career, I worked for Maine Drilling and Blasting, they gave me what they called a supervisors vest with several pockets. (I bitched about not havin pockets) But that one was nothin like yours!

Yeah it's a dandy. The old one was getting kinda tattered fro all the abuse! The lined pockets are sweet, I just used them the other morning, did a pre-work with a crew of handfallers and then had to wait a bit while the crew leader dropped the other guys off further down the hill. Hands in the pockets, it was the old vest but they still did the trick! Good to hear from you.

Pretty sweet vest! That is similar to what I use. Can you get them based in Orange? Yellow is cooler but the visibility dulls a lot faster for me cause I do so much besides run the cutter...lol. Those vests can only meet Ansi 2 no matter what because you need reflection on sleeves to meet Ansi 3. The hand pockets are my favorite part!

Yeah it's a dandy for sure. Check out the website - safetyapparel.us, they've got them in orange, yellow, and green. I would favor the green but it doesn't meet the osha spec I guess. You're right about the ANSI, they do offer sleeves if you need to hit the ANSI 3. I forget what the reg is that's different between Canada and the States in regard to the X back or the stripe back, that's what I was thinking of. I recommend these vests highly though, for as stout as they are built and what they offer they are reasonably priced too.

@@thedailylogger Only reason I knew that about the Ansi standard is because I have one of those super duper 5.11 rain coats with removable liner that I bought from Galls( I was a Paramedic for years too) and it meets Ansi 3. I got to doing some checking and discovered it was because it has sleeves.

@@timberslasher4899 Copy that, you're a man of many talents, seems like they all come in handy from time to time in the woods probably. Although I certainly respect what paramedics do for us, unfortunately I don't believe id choose to be one in this day and age, same as with police officers, or even fire fighters. There are just too many crazy people out there in the world it seem to me. As a society we're fortunate that there are those who choose to serve. Oh well, going off on a tangent here. Have a good weekend.

Oh man, that's funny. Hadn't thought about it that way, but I've never washed it either, just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the comment, and for watching, we appreciate it! Be safe.
