i don't know where you are from, but in my country some traffic lights won't do the whole red and green thing during night because there isn't as much traffic, instead the lights will blink yellow which means you are free to drive on your own judgement. probably so people don't have to sit at red traffic lights even tho nobody is coming from the other side. i guess hitting the lights causes them to go into the default mode.^^
