There was a German TV game show where they had this (albeit much larger) as the last duell between the host and contestant. The show started at 8:15pm, and they reached this game by 1:20am. (The show was known for taking WAY longer than scheduled, but this was already pushing it.) Both contestants did not manage to hook the ring for a bit over an HOUR! (Despite tests done by the studio crew before the show wouldn't need more than like 10min.) The worst part: It was a tie breaker game, and the prize money was 2.5 million Euros - something neither the candidate nor the studio wanted give up on easily. They decided to discontinue after that really boring and tiresome hour, and came up with a replacement game. Which only lasted for a few minutes. The contestant won! Seems he'd better have sent a lion in in his place =)
