The earliest know use of the turn Must-See TV by NBC was in a February 1989 issue of TV Guide to promote its Tuesday night lineup, which at the time consisted of the dramas Matlock, In The Heat Of The Night, and Midnight Caller. It wasn't used on-air until the 1993-94 season however.

That was the case, ABC, NBC, & CBS didn't try to reach to that Audience. Fox did it 1st with In Living Color, then Martin, Living Single & New York Undercover. UPN then got the black audience when the aired Moesha & several other shows
