Why not? Compared to the average house sizes in NZ and the US, and based on the size of the bedrooms, I'd say it is. It's not a Tiny House on Wheels, though, I'm aware of that.

I think the three kids in one room probably isn't as big of a problem as some people think. I grew up in a big house (ten kids in my family), but my four youngest siblings (3 boys, 1 girl) ended up sharing a bedroom for a long time, because they all just wanted to be together. It's easy to forget sometimes that each kid having their own room is a relatively modern and western concept that a lot of the world still doesn't follow.

@KennethStevenson It's as important to know what you don't like as what you do. I run out to my driveway with the tape measure and start considering the dimensions and the space. Watch a lot of videos and evaluate the elements. The 5 scale: much below average, below average, average, above-average, well above average. You are designing, imagining, and realizing your own plan. There is a threshold of I don't care(this is not a deal-breaker). You get to answer the question how good is good enough? Rest with the questions, don't try to answer them instantaneously. With good sleep the subconscious produces inventive Solutions(don't rush). I watch the clips at Double speed 2X. Think backwards, with the end in mind. I know this element or subset is complete when. . . . . Assemble and integrate the design objectives. Budget the elements with least cost in mind. First costs, versus lifetime or ongoing costs. Imagine your project or its elements at 1/3 or 1/2 of your early budget estimates. Record or journalize your thinking everyday. You are going to implement or improve on every idea you have seen or had. Explain your thinking and ideas to others(significant or co-conspirators) , make a timeline and use a calendar. Start yesterday and keep going. P.I.O.S.E.E. PROBLEMS INFORMATION OPTIONS SELECTIONS EXECUTIONS EVALUATIONS You will most certainly regret the accomplishments you have never undertaken.

Im from India , Working as civil engineer , i am really profound & amazed to see a sweet home container , though i have in companies at site in container offices , earlier 3- 4 years back i ve had an idea that if i cannot purchase a good Flat or apartment due to high loans interest , volatile market , i had made up in my mind that i'll buy 2000 sqft land , on which i 'll place containers depending upon the services required & nos of family members , as im civil engineer , this thought of mine , today im seeing on this wonderful utube platform by the residents who actually build it , im really very happy to watch the videos & for fraction of minutes i dream;t that it was some what the house which was im looking for , but architecturally, these couples have designed & framed it in very wonderful way , at par to LARGE HOMES built with costly materials , fees , land cost , paying all taxes 7 waiting for months to get your dream homes keys into your hand , is really very hard to think , as if theses things have to be achieved you need to work in india at very high position on very large salary , i conclude that its amazing innovation , style , thoughts utilized in a proactive way , which is really an example setup by the residents for others , that if people are determined & i think theres no need to live in side concrete walls , i hope that 1 fine day i will also do some thing extra ordinary by using salvage material into construction to build my dream home , hats off to theses couples & my sincere regards & best wishes to all their kids , family members & friends , Deepak Soni -9819652992 / 8208725754 , great !!!!!!!!

Marina Pon, I'm quite sure it's not that tidy and organized for the day to day living. On less they are OCD
@garygansbrubaker6 жыл бұрын
Dion Moore, I agree that three young children in that very small space does not look like that every day. We all know that if the home we built - regardless of its size - was child-free and they were most likely tidying up, fixing any dents, chips of the paint, tidying every square millimetre of that home, inside and out, and the children went somewhere for a mini-holiday prior to Bryce & Co's arrival for the filming of this and every other home that he visits! Especially when they know that every friend, neighbour, distant relation, schoolmate from 20 years ago, and even the Queen might watch this for entertainment, so they probably almost killed each other at least five times prior to the crew arriving at the vineyard. It's some percentage of being completely house-proud meets show and tell. And somewhere in that lovely location exists a shed about to burst with the excess of everything from power washers to boxes of bathtub toys, shampoos, soaps, stuffed toys, pencils, coloured pencils, paints, inks, stickers, artworks that the children made for them, etc, etc, etc. We want to appear at our best, which is always far better than our usual rotas. I might even believe that they probably had a maid work for an entire day, which they only do when someone is coming that they want to delude them that it always looks that way, said every person every time if they were honest.Those poor lads must have so many lumps from falling out of those very skinny beds that their teachers don't know if they should call Social Services! And as soon as Bryce & Co have left the vineyard they're on the bell asking their parents if it would be okay if the children stayed an additional day (or two) so they can book that fabulous all-inclusive hotel with a California Bed and Fretté 600-count sheets with ceilings so high that they were jumping up and down on them like they were the children. And if, for any reason whatsoever, she's late for her monthly, somebody will die that night.

Really cool setup. I've always said I'd rather have 100 acres and a shed over 1/3 of an acre and a 3000 square foot house...

Love this entire concept- these folks have done a great job and have an easily adaptable home for their family- as the children grow- they can add a container!

How in the world can I buy those shipping containers??? This is pure genius! I would love to have a place like this so that I could have more money to enjoy life with... and actually have savings!!! Right now I live to pay bills... So proud of this couple for stepping outside of the box and taking FULL ownership of their lives!

This place is HUGE! And gorgeous, like the livingroom area with the beautiful blue couch facing the patio doors. It's very high end looking. They may have left the big 5-bed house but they brought all the class with them to this house!👍🏻😄 And how cool that Bryce's channel fueled the inspiration!!🏆 At least steel is going to be weather-resistent, no constant painting, this is built to last. Plus sleeping under a steel roof when it's raining sounds amazing, instant nodding off! And what a great price they came in at!👍🏻🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦

That shipping container home looks amazing! I wonder if the solar helped shield some of the heat off of the roof? Great home and what a nice looking family! 👍😎👍 Thanks for the new episode Bryce and Rasa! 😃 🖤🦇

Check out the Paul Chambers KZbin channel, you will see that the solar panels do provide some shade. Mind you, Paul set his panels up at an angle, not just flat. Paul and his wife spent quite some time creating a home using, I think, three containers to make their place. They also put in a big dammed pond, a garden, and some fruit trees. Paul did most of the work himself, and wrote two books about the process. His channel is full of information. Just look up Paul Chambers.

would having some soil and a grass roof/ wildfowers on top help to keep it cooler ?
@ImDBatty16 жыл бұрын
Fiona Whittaker I imagine it would, but then you'd have to worry about roots, rust, and forgetting where your house is... 🙃 I'm kidding about the last one! 😁

Wow. I like that the opted for smaller "bedrooms" to have bigger shared areas, which is where most of their time will be spent. As the kids grow up and need more space/privacy they can always add a small container to have the bedrooms in.
