yeah Wales unlike London and England is very unbuilt up, its also quite poor due to this but it is very pretty i live where North is from and so Wales isnt far from me and i was stunned when i visted there on a work trip. definetely an amazingly kept place. In england id visit the Lake district, Devon, Castles in Cumbria and York (Place looks like a high fantasy town)

Perfect example of people getting jaded about what they take for granted :) I know why Americans come to Europe, we have great food, booze and history/buildings older than the USA itself. It's a nice change for them just as much as the insanely big, bustling cities of the USA are a nice change for us Europeans :)

When my niece was about 5-7 yrs old she made fun of me when I played PlanetSide 2. few years later I got her to play some. While it didn't stick, she made a character that lasted for a good few weeks. Ever since, she's found her own genre of games and been hooked ever since. Despite being an avid gamer, she's passed all of high school with flying colors, A+ all around.

I would say rural America is very nice. However, as a pole who moved to the US, Europe is much much nicer. Most of major cities in America are trash heaps. Literally trash everywhere. Rural America on the other hand is great. There is tons of different stuff, you have mountains, deserts, plains, rolling hills. People in smaller towns are much friendlier, and it is way cleaner. Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Spain, etc etc…their cities are much more friendly than any city I have been to in the states. The European countryside is also amazing. And the food generally speaking is leagues above the American cuisine. In terms of quality, you can’t beat a good karczma somewhere in the Podhale region. London on the other hand, I agree with you.

"Free Speech" and "Freedom of the Press" simply means: the ability to say what you want about the government, good or bad, without fear of reprisals from the state. That's all. It doesn't mean you can insult people without fear of consequences; and it certainly doesn't mean that other people have to listen to it

30:20 On this part there I 98% agree. The only part I'd add for clarification is that the slogan "spreading hate" is completely weaponized and deliberately phrased as a softer version of "incitement to violence (against specific groups)" because that is already illegal. In Germany they introduced the english "hatespeech is when you hurt my feelings or I'm hurt on behalf of 3rd parties" definition because the literal translation "Hassrede" is already that very legally defined term I mentioned earlier: Incitement. Incitement is more than mere speech, exchange of information, ideas, facts, concepts. The way "spreading hate" has been weaponized is that it is used to shut down mentions of crime when certain people do it, but not others. It still has little to no place in an escapist-hobby/space. I will mention on this that after months if not more supermarket managers have spoken out in Germany about brazen thiefs coming in, just taking stuff worth several hundred bucks each day, and just leave. Noone does anything, even the police barely does anything (in part because they're understaffed considering what's going on overall). That happens all around the country now and people are afraid to mention it, because everyone and their dog knows that it's people from asylum/migrant shelters not far off. Those get more than enough supplies from the state, from taxes to not need to do this, but they do it anyway. Why are people scared to mention it? Because you instantly get slandered, harrassed if not openly attacked by antifa for doing so. You are just spreading hate apparently for not wanting to lose over 10k€ a month due to the ever same petty and brazen thiefs, who keep doing this because they know they face no consequences. And this breeds resentment, not necessarily against foreigners as a whole, but certain demographics that stick out, and resentment against the asylum system, which is a great feat of goodwill and hospitality, being abused on such a large scale. Why would a good person steal from the place and people willing to give you shelter from whereever you're fleeing from? Why would you do even worse to those people? The question that then rises is "Are you mayhaps the kinds of people that actual seekers of help and shelter are fleeing from?" - The answer lies in the story of the Yezidi girls who rather returned back to Syrian refugee camps than remain in Germany. I'll let you figure that one out for yourself. Even more confusing is that mentioned petty brazen thieves are from Tunisia, which is not a country worth fleeing from, it's not on the index of asylum worthy country. I've known many Tunisians from University, who've been here all their lives, make regular vacations visiting their families in Tunisia. Just because I call myself an Elven Archer, Ultramarine or nine-tailed Sphinx-wolf-chimera doesn't make me one; and that sort of behaviour, whether out of malice or lunacy, puts people off; especially when you're forced you accept it and not trust your lying eyes. I grew up in East Germany. The Stasi never did anything wrong, the Party was always right, and the Berlin Wall protected us from the evil Fascists in the West that totally were all Nazis, while our soldiers innocently goosestepped (not kidding, they did the 90° angle). - But all of that is for OFF the gaming table, OUTSIDE the hobbystore and the hobby-forums. If you let one ideological brainwashing campaign sneak and worm its way in, eventually there will be a reaction. Though in this case for once that didn't seem to have come from the left, which... is almost refreshing. Like drinking hot chocolate with rancid milk instead of eating mudcake. The mean thing about the sneaky strategy type is, that it acts like the sneaky bully who keeps annoying you all throughout class without the teacher noticing, or just constantly lightly poking you, or just constantly holding a finger right next to your eye in the corner of your vision, and once you snap playing victim and making you look like the bad guy because "I never punched/hit/did anything to you! D:" - It's the same with psychological abuse in relationships, especially gaslighting. Eventually you snap, because everyone has a limit somewhere (if you haven't learned to stop giving more chances, and instead draw a line and just throw the other out or move out yourself). Even if you draw that line properly and throw out the gaslighter or move out yourself, you will be painted the bad guy anyway. There's no real winning there, but you'll learn who your true friends are among the lot you knew. If you're lucky there's one. If you're blessed, there's two. It's strange how all these topics are linked at the hip, about the very same type and mechanics of behaviour.

As an american, one of the things that is so fascinating about europe is the rich history. While we might have a more spread out land mass and less of an issue with tourism in the majority of the country, we do not have the same historical background that places like france or great britain do. If you want to see a great ancient cathedral, you don't come here, if you want to see a city that has survived through the centuries, you don't come here. Granted, I'm biased as I love history. But I will grant you this much, when it comes to biomes, you're right. There isn't a place here that europe does not have. But a lot of it too is exactly what you said about your ex-father in law, to get in touch with roots, even if it's as something as simple as a pilgrimage to the nation where we originated.

17:49 Milwaukee channel listener here! Thank you for the praise, North, but don't say it too loudly. I grew up and worked in New Jersey near New York City before moving to Milwaukee in 2017 with little to no regrets. The winters are colder here but its so much cheaper and there is still a ton to see and do without it being incredibly crowded and dog eat dog. & also the hobby scene is alive and well. I jump between TCGs, boardgames, & tabletop games and have roughly a dozen LGS within 30 minutes drive that I could get a game at.

You can use this in a vid, please just don’t use my name. Just wanted to say you’re right about wolf players. The Viking aesthetic is very boring and a lot are pretty cringe. Too many furries amongst them as well, which I will never gel with after the first one (who was also enthusiastically into space wolves) I met in HS went to prison for “baking cheese pizza” and the Kero the wolf thing. I want to say Space wolves were one of my first armies when I was 14 way back in 2009-2010. I played Tau first in 4th Ed. When I was introduced, it was while sitting in detention and a Warhammer club with a bunch of kids I liked came in and played in middle school, a guy said Tau were cheapest. Never really liked the other space puppy players and they didn’t seem too keen on me as I never liked the whole Viking thing very much. Always thought Vikings were boring. I modeled mine as pre-Colombian Native Americans. Lots of feathers, animal and tyranid trophies, totems, bird skulls, and trinkets. I even made some poorly done totem poles on the power packs they have in their back. I also used the old school lizardmen parts I could get my hands on and never used a bearded head. It was a really flavorful army even if it was poorly painted, but I eventually almost entirely turned my back on the imperium, except for sisters and Templars, and went with chaos and a lot of xenos. Big fan of the channel for comfy painting time and for at work, have a great day!

Hey! American who has lived all over the lower 48 as well as Europe and currently lives in the deep south. The American fascination with Europe primarily stems from their are next to no signs of human habitation that are older than a few centuries. The random cobblestone road that is older than our own home country is a powerful thing to reframe history for us. I lived in Portugal where there were constantly mundane things that back home would be considered priceless on age alone. Not really any different than how you were gushing over our beautiful natural backcountry. also your southerner has some confirmation bias going on with the confederate flag stuff. i agree with majority feel keeping the confederate flag alive is stupid but there is no way it is close to the 99% described. It is a long process. The end is in sight but it is still gonna take a while.
