Just traded in my '15 for a 2020 GTI, but had pretty much the same setup. Didn't give me ANY issues, until I added an APR intake/Turbo muffler delete/Turbo inlet pipe around 65k. Prob needed a tune.. Dude, are you in the 757? I used to work with a car head/cook that had the SAME last name, and a red Prelude I wanted to buy till I found out it was auto..

vibrations are probably a bad motor mount. They're on the top of the engine bay, no need to get under the car. DAP has a good video on how to inspect and replace it.

I have a 2017 GTI with 53k miles. I did the first 4 services at the dealership. Then started doing my own oil changes every 5k miles at 40k. I also just did a stage 1 Cobb tune last month and plan on doing the DSG tune too. My car is a daily I drive 100 miles a day for work (roundtrip) all highway miles tho. The only problem I had was with the AC. Needed to recharge it, but other than that haven't spent any more money on fixing the car. The next thing I want to do is get wheels and tyres and maybe some coil overs, but ill see. Thanks for the video keep uploading. Its always good stuff!

As a European watching this vid, I am so surprised you and others in the comments are so hyped about your cars reaching these mileages. Cars should be able to reach 100k miles with proper maintenance no problem.

Yo! If you are zipping round Floyd Bennett, be careful. I used to race bikes there, so back in the day I tested my B5 S4 on the runway. I got caught by the police helicopter at 120 - they are stationed there and look out for speeders. Fortunately, I was going so fast the cops did not have time to get a speed gun on me and I just got a fine with no points. But I was sh***ing myself!

My GTI was diagnosed with coronavirus or something... I swear. Shit, 2020 has been a rough year for my '13 GTI MK6. I have a little over 120,000 miles, 7+ years of ownership. Here's the list of problems I've encountered with my GTI in 2020 (yes... in 2020): CEL due to misfiring like crazy. Replaced spark plugs, new coil pack. STILL MISFIRING. Had to do carbon cleaning which cost me my stimulus check. A rock chip caused a crack though my driver side, had to replace whole windshield. Dead battery, had to get a new one. Tires went bald after three years (or 30,000+ miles), replaced them with a new set (Michelin Pilot Super Sports). Had to a DSG filter and fluid change. Other than that running Stage 2 (custom tune with pops) with a turboback exhaust setup. As of now, car runs perfectly fine... for now. Welcome to GTI ownership. Hope you can achieve 80K mileage with your GTI which is basically 200K for Japanese cars.

59,700 miles 3.5 years 2017 gti s. Only issue so far has been a dead battery. Thats it. Oil changes every 4k spark plugs every 10k air filter every 5k dsg service every 30k and carbon cleaning at 50k brake fluid every 20k stock brake pads and rotors lasted me 56k. AMAZING CAR

Just a few comments: 1. VW mounts suck. As someone else already said, there is a good chance that the vibration is probably your mounts going bad. 2. VW knows that there is an issue with their water pump/thermostat housing. It is a VERY common issue on our cars. If you take it to a dealer for this issue and they give you crap about your mods, take it to another dealer. I am full bolt-on stage 2 tuned and the dealer didn't even mention my mods when I took it in for this issue. They just changed it. 3. Many people have issues putting a blowoff valve on our cars. Basically the ECU really doesn't like it at all. I know many people that have but on a BOV and end up removing it after a while. It serves no purpose at all on our cars except to make that BOV noise that so many people want. If you really want that noise, get a diverter valve spacer. It does the same thing as a BOV without driving the ECU crazy.

I'm warming up to Goodyear. I put some Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate tires on my GTI and love them. They feel more responsive than the Continentals that were on it when I bought it used. And I have some weird window switch issues as well. Sometimes it stops moving and I have to take my hand off and try again. About 58,000 miles on mine, DSG Autobahn with performance pack.
@SonOfTheDawn515

That's a VW issue going back a while. My MK4 GLS and MK6 2.5 SE both had window issues. Even replaced window motors and the main controls in driver door. VW just goes cheap with that for some reason. However, not big into having my windows down anyway.
@spidesol
@spidesol 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Lucas! I was having the same issue with the window switch and soon after the auto up/down feature completely stopped working so I bought a cheap Chinese replacement and swapped it and that fixed it. Turns out the reason the original failed is because the unit is 2 parts, the housing and the switch unit, the unit uses the housing as leverage to engage the auto feature and due to the heat it made the plastic housing crack which didn’t give the unit anymore leverage, I got mine on eBay.

Hopefully they ironed out some of the big issues I've heard about (turbo, thermostat/water pump, sunroof issues, window switches) after the first year or two of the MK7.
