Family room* also I have a fire extinguisher, and carpet doesn't catch on fire and spread immediately. Plus fire/heat only rise in the air, with no wind or air pushing it.

Be careful when grinding those tungsten electrodes if they come from china. I purchased some green tip (pure tungsten) for experiments and turned out they actually had thorium in them. I agree fully with you about William Osman, he is stupid and also thanks to him getting an x-ray tube is now harder because sellers no longer sell to individuals as easily. If some day you mess with X-rays a Geiger counter helps and can be used to play with them but just a little, if you wanna get really into experimenting with X-rays get a proper detector, be it a ion chamber or scintillation detector for low energy gammas, they will give you more accurate dose rates than Geiger counters. Subscribed!
@trenthighvoltage
@trenthighvoltage Жыл бұрын
I knew some contained thorium. I'll be aware of that, I really should buy a Geiger counter or something for stuff like that, which do you recommend, nothing too pricey? Btw the electrodes weren't from china (or at least China sellers) so idk

hi awesome tank transformer. Shouldn’t it work normally at 7 kHz and not break through?
@trenthighvoltage
@trenthighvoltage Жыл бұрын
Ayy zilipoper! Yeah it would probably work at 7khz but that's way too high. This was off an amx4 portable machine, driven by an SCR resonance driver (1991 machine) at like 500-1000Hz. You can see the part 1 video where i explain about it. If I go higher than 1-2kHz I may risk killing the xrt simply from capacitive coupling.
@zilipoper
@zilipoper Жыл бұрын
@@trenthighvoltage then it is better not to exceed the frequency more than 2 kHz; the transformer is cool
@trenthighvoltage
@trenthighvoltage Жыл бұрын
@@zilipoper Not to mention, there will probably be more hysteresis losses, even though it's an amorphous core. If you drive any transformers at much higher frequency than they're designed to run (say MOT at over 400Hz+ it'll have some losses, losing power).

I litearlly have that same large xray transformer..internals look exactly the same, lots of oil. I bought like 30ft of xray transformer wire from a china company and bought brandnew terminals that plug into it, because I wanted longer leads. They run at 1khz..so been working on creating a 1khz inverter for mine..fun stuff! haaha

Just be careful and keep a safety gap of at least 15-20cm max, MAYBE 25. No more than that open circuit. With sharp points to help jump arcs further at lower voltage

Thanks for pointing out the hazards od x rays. William osman isnr stupid in general, and i like his videos, but rhe x ray vid wasn't great. Its not like he gave himself a substantial dose, but he didnt give enough warning comcernung the high dose rates produced by x ray tubes. Dose rates around a billion times higher than dose produced by a radium watch, or similar, common radioactive items. Btw, if you ever do use the tube, don't just buy rhe crappiest GM counter you can find. X ray dosimetry is difficult, given the high intensities, low photon energy, and sometimes also due to the waveform the tube is fed. A tube running self rectified on 50Hz (essentially running half wave 50Hz) will be much harder to measure then one running CW.
