Hi john I have been brought up with the hst in the nice part of the world in Devon and the intercity swallow liver coaches are mk2d coaches and they would have never ran with hst there were loco hauled stock and the hymeck class 35 they were diesel hydraulic locos and only worked in multiple with other hymecks Hope this helps Jake
@chambs1238 жыл бұрын
Hi Jake & thanks for the comment & info...appreciated mate. You are not wrong about the Hymek but you misunderstood my meaning of Diesel/Electric. I was meaning that I had changed to using Diesels or Electric locos for shunting as a change & opposed to having always used steamers in the past. You are of course correct that the Hymek is in-fact Diesel/Hydraulic. As regards the Mk2 coaches I have already covered this in a previous comment reply so have copied it herewith for you: I did know that but I completely forgot to mention it in the narration! I did consider splitting the eight Dapol coaches into two lots of four...basically to Run the Exec & Swallow as 4+2 sets but in the end changed my mind & just ran the set as it had arrived with the incorrect ones! Seasons greetings & best regards. John.

Hornby have made a limited edition Inter city 125 power cars to celebrate the HST's 40th anniversary. I believe the 40th anniversary edition shows the original, classic blue and gold Inter City 125 livery, but a bit more detailed. To follow up with the XPT, Auscision have made a more detailed, accurate HO version of the XPT, I believe an auscision 7 car set would cost 1200 Australian dollars. The original livery on the lima version appears on the Auscision version, but Auscision have also included the liveries our Australian XPTs had over time all the way to the current modern livery it still wears today. If you intend to buy one, they will have knuckle couplers so I suggest some kadees will help avoid breakaways. Hope that helps.
@chambs1238 жыл бұрын
Yes mate thank you for all the info. I did know some things but not all. I may buy the Auscision XPT at a later date as I have seen them on their website. Thanks for the comment. Seasons greetings to you. Regards, John.

Another great video John, thank you. Your executive coaches appear to be Mk2e loco stock, not Mk3 HST. The swallow livery coaches are similar to executive, the most noticeable difference is the swallow livery has INTERCITY in upper case whereas executive has InterCity 125.

I had the Virgin set in 1997 when I think I was 6 years old. I loved it but it never ran very well 😩 but when it did run okay I would have it going on the dining room table in the dark with the headlights glowing as it went round and round. So glad I was a 90s kid and not one now in the time of iPads and laptops. I've still got it and I'll try to give it a once over I'm sure it'll run as it was meant to!

Another great video John,I have a old 1980s version , a bit slow and slugish but I like the original livery. Can I ask why do some HSTs have buffers on them? Cheers, Michael.
@chambs1238 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael. The InterCity 125 in original livery is an 80's one & runs great as you saw. It would suggest to me with what you say that yours may need a good service? As regards the fitting of buffers on some Power Units I honestly really don't know? I can only assume it is because they may sometimes be kept in sidings/stations with end-of-the-line buffers & maybe most of the others are kept elsewhere & not requiring them to be fitted? Seasons greetings & best regards. John

John - Your Triang -Rovex 1963 to 1965 Box sets video's ended without the "Old Smokey" box set from 1965 with the 0-6-0 4F , No43775. Do you have it ? When I was 2 years old my dad bought this set (for himself with the excuse it was for the boy) and I now have the said same loco from my childhood in my possession after he passed away. I would really like to see the original "Old Smokey" box set as there are several old parts lying about that I can see on the Box lid pictures on the web - such as level crossing gates and single signals and a couple of platform pieces etc. There was also the original 1960's freightliners with the doors smashed off (me when I was younger), a class 37 , and a class 08 with the old flat wagon with the 2 wire rolls on it. I would really appreciate if you could assemble those sets into a video mate. Best regards - Mike.
@chambs1238 жыл бұрын
Hi there Mike & thank you for your interesting comment & story. I must say however that I can not understand why you have missed it because I have run 'Old Smokey' & it is near the end of Part 6....1963 - 1965! Also, I have run both the Freightliner set (class 37 I think?) & the 08 with the cable reel wagon etc! Can not remember which parts but they are all there...I have not left anything out right up to Part 8! You please need to go back & check them! I have written in the description boxes of each video a complete list of what is in each said video. I hope this all helps? Seasons greetings & best regards. John.
