#41 Joe Exotics Zoo (Tiger King) HEY GUY

We visited Joe Exotics Zoo in Wynnewood Oklahoma. It’s currently ran by Jeff Lowe but Carole Baskin will take over soon. Watch the Netflix series Tiger King. While there the zoo looked awful, the smell in parts were too much to deal with. A lot of the animals looked horrible. It was actually a really sad visit. Jeff Lowe will be moving all the animals to another location in August of 2020. After we left the zoo we read where Jeff Lowe said he’s leaving the zoo in the worst shape for Carole Baskin. He’s doing a great job of it for sure. We hope his next zoo is top of the line and more very well kept. I will say the staff there was very nice and they were working hard the whole time. I’m glad this zoo is coming to an end.

The only solution is for the people that have a problem with conditions should volunteer and do something about it .I've worked at a wolf refuge it was clean because we volunteer and keep it that way .running your mouth doesn't do anything except cause controversy .I remember the old days where people minded their business or suffered the consequences .do something or shut up please it's not like they aren't actually doing something for the animals or they would all be dead by now .

The animals are pacing because they are stressed from overbreeding, too small cages and lack of enrichment. I do not recommend anyone go there. The animals need to me moved to true sanctuaries. I strongly suggest that if you have access to the tv channel animal planet, you watch the show surviving Joe Exotic. It shows just how bad these zoos are for big cats and shows what real sanctuaries look like. It sheds light on the fact that cubs used in “cub petting” are ripped away from their moms at two days old to be hand raised and be part of the cub petting which brings in tons of money until the cubs out grow their usefulness. It also explains that people like Joe Exotic deliberately breed cross breeds because currently their are no laws protecting hybrids and the zoo owners can do whatever they want with the cats.

I have seen the videos of when Joe had it they clean the mess out of it, but of course if you seen Carol's zoo in Florida you would know why that zoo would stink the one here stinks too she doesn't believe in people being in the cages therefore i wouldn't believe they are being cleaned properly. I think it was in rough conditions when you went because it was in the last days of operation and the volunteers and paid staff were in those “last days” mode. It doesn’t make it right but just saying I would bet a few years before with Joe running the show i would have wagered good money that appearance and even the smell you spoke of would not been that bad… granted it’s a zoo but upkeep certainly makes an difference. It’s really sad seeing someone’s life’s work being taken from them and although there are mixed feelings of JE, everyone can see that this all started from somewhere with good intentions. I think he was screwed over by everyone he let in his circle and it costed him everything. I pray that he has able to get out and enjoy the rest of years in peace. Whatever he has done wrong in his life he has paid for it. He has lost his parents, zoo, all his properties and possessions…

This place probably looks like this because they were about to move into the new place, why spend anymore money than you have to on a place your leaving. Plus Jeff Lowe is a crook, he don’t care about those animals. Joe exotic cared, that’s why the placed looked decent when he was there. Joe cared a lot about that place. Just my opinion.

I don’t know why, but it kind of bothered me when he said that male cat was “nasty” - he wasn’t mean and nasty. They have huge territories in the wild and they use scent marking by spraying a urine-like substance from their anal glands to alert other cats that, he may not be *seen*, but he’s close by and this is HIS land, and now you as a person have been targeted and marked and subsequently sprayed for him to identify you and further give the message to any other cats that he’s close by.
