Oh my God, the memories. Caroline in the City, Drew Carey, Pinky and the Brain, Kirk, Brotherly Love, Cleghorne, Jeff Foxworthy, Moesha, The Single Guy, Bless This House, Maybe This Time, Can't Hurry Love...I wasn't a regular watcher of them all, but I remember the theme songs and the commercials and the TV Guide articles. (And man, I forgot how catchy The Single Guy's theme was.)

It was a really good show at the start - but the rebrand was kinda boring. When they tried to tie up loose ends of the first half season - they looked out of place in the new Dynasty/Dallas/Falcon Crest they were trying to create. I believe this disconnect alienated both demographics they were trying to attract in the retooling. Also, Lauren Hutton should never be given acting work - she's a terrible actress.

It can be time-consuming, especially in trying to find ones with decent quality video. If I had a complete library of all excellent quality intros, I'd have a field day with them. But you use what you can get, it's the best you can do.

Cop Shows are usually a stock bet (or were) Friends was the "IT" show from the previous Season so of course they'd try to clone it John Grisham's The Firm, Pelican Brief, and The Client had all been adapted as films a few years prior and one can safely draw a line from 92's A Few Good Men directly to JAG (By way of Top Gun*) * You'll never convince me that Bellisario's Pitch for JAG was not a version of "What if the Lawyer in a Few Good Men was Maverick from Top Gun?"

"It Had to Be You" was a fall 1993 show. You were probably thinking of "If Not For You" for this video compilation, which starred Elizabeth McGovern and Hank Azaria. That only lasted a month on CBS' schedule in fall 1995.

I think this was the first year we had cable TV, but I don't remember any of these except the Drew Carey Show and Pinky and the Brain. My stepdaughter was only 8yo at the time, so when she was staying with us, the TV was pretty much hers. We watched a LOT of Saved By The Bell, Garfield & Friends, and Nick at Night. I (being the responsible adult....yeah...uh-huh) would make sure she was in bed before X-Files and Beavis and Butt-head came on.

Nowhere Man: another great show cancelled, but somehow UPN thought "Homeboys from Outer Space" was a good idea. Thankfully it came out on DVD years later with tons of extras, interviews and commentaries. I couldn't buy it fast enough.

I never got into JAG, I watched two episodes total, both featuring one of my favorite actors of the past (the late Stan Kirsch), and I couldn't even watch the first episode he was in in full because I was bored (I do have it on VHS from its original May 1996 broadcast, the oldest recording I still have, one of the last NBC version shows). I'm not saying it wasn't a good show, it just wasn't my thing. Obviously I don't watch NCIS either. And wow, John Barrowman looks so young in Central Park West, a full decade before Doctor Who.

I didn't 'get Nowhere Man' and 'American Gothic' back then... I wonder if A. they'd hold up to present viewing and B. if I could find 'low cost' Copies to test hypotheses A? who would have Guessed JAG (which lasted 15? episodes on NBC in this format) would end up getting to 10 Seasons thanks to CBS, let alone Spawn their NCIS Franchise which is now 3 shows deep and NCIS Prime is at 18 seasons

I find NBC's lack of faith in JAG as hilarious as ABC's decision to not go forward with the CSI pilot. Between the CSI shows and the NCIS shows, CBS would end up owning most of the 2000's (and some of the 2010's) in total viewers.

I wandered down a Rabbit hole a while ago, and apparently ABC had 'All in the Family' handed too them, but they balked because of a failed edgy 'sketch show' the season before... this gave it to CBS, where it spawned multiple spin offs (which had their own spin offs allowing CBS to 'Own the 70s' 2. CSI was supposed to be an 'also ran' on CBS, as their debut Season CBS put their weight behind a revival of the Fugitive

How to put this delicately. There's a certain way of knowing which of these shows were likely on WB or UPN based on specific demographics they were targeting. Some of these intros are so basic they could be from almost any television era but I do appreciate the ones that are unmistakably 90s.

There were 5 Hercules TV movies in 1994 and series Hercules the legendary Journey ran From January 16, 1995 through Nov. 22, 1999 for 111 episodes. Spin off Xena warrior princess started Sept. 4, 1995 and ran until June 18, 2001 for 134 episodes. Another spin off Young Hercules had Pilot episode plus 50 other episodes and ran from Sept. 12, 1998 until May 14, 1999.

I was a young adult back in 1995 and did not watch one episode of any of these 42 new shows. The shocking part was that only "JAG" emerged as the most successful new show. Everything else just faded into obscurity. The one positive was that there were no "CSI" related shows!

@@paulcarr5918 - Drew Carrey hasn't faded into obscurity YET... (even after his namesake series ended in May, 2005). He has been on CBS every weekday as host of The Price Is Right since October 15th, 2007 (starting his 16th season as host in Fall 2022).

You left out good music, sound, camera work as well as costumes and realistic sets and props. So is a combination of many different things also some characters have a likeable personality could help. Although some shows were based on horrible personality.

If you are watching this and you never saw "Nowhere Man" do yourself a favor and find it. The series is a bit uneven but even the wort episodes are pretty good and the good one's are great! I've been a Bruce Greenwood fan ever since.

The first instance of a single storyline specifically for a single season of a show. Too bad ABC scheduled Murder One up against the juggernaut known as ER. By midseason, I familiarized myself with Drs. Green, Ross, Lewis, Carter, Benton, and Nurse Hathaway again after the case against Neil Avedon moved to a different night.

the Synopsis on IMDB reads like Generic Detective Series #573 with the 'hook' being that he's a Single Dad His Status as Producer was likely (as is common) an Overture by the Studio to sign him Cheaper up front, and then IF the Show had worked, he'd get his 'bonus money' via a stake as Producer

It worked, though. Sure, it only aired in prime-time that first season, but it lasted two or three more on Saturday mornings. Didn't get stale 'til some moron in the executive suite decided to add Elmyra from Tiny Toons into the mix.

I swear to God...nearly *every single intro* in the first ten minutes (right up to "Pinky and the Brain") were absolutely interchangeable: same camera shots, same cinema-verite, same pouty faces, same theme music. Just awful. (The 90s *were* every bit as bad as I remembered!)

It kind of ironic that that same time JAG debuted, Mark Harmon would star in 'Charlie Grace' which tanked after 9 episodes. Then 8 years later he would star in a JAG episode which acted as the back door pilot for NCIS.

Nowhere Man, Murder One, The Client and JAG were all casual watches ranging from watchable to decent. Caroline in the City, Drew Carey Show, Too Something, Dweebs, Can't Hurry Love, Almost Perfect and Moesha I watched pretty regularly. A full-on Kirk Cameron sitcom makes me wanna blow my brains out just thinking about it and I always found Jeff Foxworthy about as funny as cancer. Central Park West was insufferable.
