I used to see SWC at Pomona dragstrip when I was just a kid. I lived in La Verne and could sneak into the strip. I became Chief photographer for Pomona Progress Bulletin and covered Winternationals for many years. Oh for the good old days.

Built one of these models as a kid as well, looked identical right down to the lettering. Very cool to see this.

Saw SW&C at dragway 42 in Ohio, 1963. The strip had a banked turn at the shutdown. Cookie lost his brakes and the B&M didn't slow the car down. That Willys FLEW over the back road and landed in a farmers crop. Cookie broke his nose. What a day for a 17 year old from Detroit. (me)

I think as a kid I built at least 3 Stone woods and Cook cars.It cost me a dollar and forty nice cents plus paint and glue.
