The hardest part about a situation like this is not getting the chance to get even. He had all the fun in the world, calling you names and trying to intimidate you, but you stood your ground. Anyone with half a brain knows you would have handled him with not much effort at all. You're an avid trainer and he was two burritos away from busting his belt buckle. New to your channel, your video came up on my feed. I’m grateful. All these tips are great to remember. I was in healthcare 15 years night shift worked emergency room, ICU, CCU,Telemetry and in trauma centers... and one thing people need to learn the most is situational awareness. What I saw coming into my units...my goodness. 😢 Sad what humans do to each other. I had to get out, couldn’t do it anymore. It caused me harm working it and seeing it every day...body parts, blood, bowels, and brain tissue...gave me PTSD. Knowing your surroundings being actively aware what’s going on around you is the most important thing when you go out in public, especially with the lunatics out in the world today.

Thanks for the video. I'm a little paranoid about putting my fingers into any kind of ring or hole. Besides not being trained on karambit, they make me nervous because most are made to be used with a finger in a hole. I'm guessing that I will never consider knuckles for anything other than a fidget gadget to be kept at home. Assuming I wanted to get these, the sizing issue would worry me. I took a year or so of Krav Maga. For that, I had to get MMA gloves, and the instructor found that XXL was the best size for me. I have a pair of winter gloves in XL. Generally, I get work gloves in L, but the fingers are too big for me. If I wanted the fingers to fit, I'd get work gloves in a M, but sometimes I can't get my hand in a M glove. I bought glove liners last year. I forget whether I got M or S, but that size worked well because they stretch around my hands. I have no idea what that would mean in this model of plastic knuckles.

Just subscribed after seeing this video. Watched a few others. I am a big fan of knives. I think they are great tools for many situations. Amazon boxes and packages might be the most frequent use but camping is better. I'm a passifist by choice and was bullied as a kid so i had many fights as a kid. Only lost a few of them and I stopped fist fights when i was 14. I still believe in fighting back but believe in the mental before physical. I have friends that CC and believe in 2A but choose not to carry. I've asked them what do you do if you run out of ammo or get jammed up. One of them has been taking MMA and martial arts classes for a few years. Very happy for him. Situational awareness, staying calm and being able to think your way through tough situations is best and doesn't always require a physical response. I live in a nice but diverse area in VA and know not everyone is well intentioned but i never assume the best about strangers or situations. Thanks for the story and the perspectives.

A plastic knuckle duster is ok. But I've switched to a tactical whip. Those things hurt like crazy, strike at a distance, and leave your hands free to grasp and palm strike. Tactical whips are good for a knife encounter, you hit at a distance where they can't effectively use a knife or fists when you are farther away. and a whip is fast. You get in multiple hits in seconds.

I have EDC'ed a set of delrin knuckledusters for nearly a decade. If I must throw a punch, I am not breaking my hand again for anyone. It takes a long time to heal hand injuries. Ask yourself, can I go without my hands(s) for 4 to 6 weeks? Delrin is easy to shape yourself, and it doesn't trigger metal detectors. Also, if you are concerned about the "legality" of delrin knuckledusters, just ditch 'em and make another set later. Disposable knuckledusters.

I use them at close range striking in shorter, tighter swings using more of a hook to the temple or jaw. Or a diagonal uppercut to the chin and right below the nose. I turn my fist into a hammer by knocking the brass knuckles into my target sideways and putting my hip and upper body behind it.

In Ohio, we can carry pretty much anything, the combat mindset must be rediscovered after our culture tries to subdue it in our earlier years, our bodies have gotten soft due to the industrial revolution and the rise of white collar careers. Luckily I avoid trouble despite living in Ohio, a crappy flyover state that's cheap, one of its few good points. Remain vigilant.

I have a pare of brass nuckles that that I pulled off the hand of a guy who tried to punch me at a party a year after I graduated highschool CO 2000. I got my first job bouncing in bars my 11 grade year in high school. I was recruited by a cook who watched me brake up a fight in another bar that I dishwashed at in 98. I always gravitated to violence. I never hurt anyone more than I needed to be safe from an attack. When I see a person with brass nuckles. I don’t discount their ability to get violent but I do see them as someone with minimal experience engaging in violence. As I do with a person who carries a butterfly knife. Good review though.

I had a homeless guy try to sneak up behind me at a gas station asking me if I could fill his truck. I caught him and faced him before he got too close and he stopped in his tracks before he asked me. I told him, "sorry bro, I can't." Then I was about to get in my truck when I noticed he kept standing there in a stance like he was going to bum rush me when I turned around. I faced him again and gave him that "don't mess with me" look. Then he said something to me like, "watch your back" or something before he walked away.

Hate to sound like ASP but a good spritz of the hot sauce goes along way in a situation like this and likely won't end you up in a cell. Harder to say that with the knucks.

can you hide or keep brass knuckles discrete if you were them under your winter gloves and will it still be effective
@411Outdoors8 ай бұрын
Gloves would definitely make them more discreet. I always tell people to make sure you have a really good case if you have to use them though. I would never use in a typical argumentative street light. Only if you needed an equalizer against an assailant who was trying to take you out.

@@411Outdoors will they still be effective if they are under gloves because I’m not trying to get caught with them at school but eye need to use them kause a kid eye beat 1v1 is talking about jumping me

My main concern would be the difficulty of transitioning from the knucks to a handgun.
@Daniel-ds5ld9 ай бұрын
I’d use the knuckles on my non dominate hand, and have my dominate one free to reach for the firearm.

You did precisely what a man is supposed to. Ignorant people would have engaged with him over words even though he was drunk and they do it because it makes them feel tough. Also when using dusters, you aim for the nose,ears,and collar bones. Never put your hand near anyone’s mouth or eyes. They could have a disease,you get cut and get some of their infected blood 🩸 in that wound and you have their disease.

I live in Pennsylvania and I am pretty sure brass knuckles are illegal. Will plastic knuckles be a legal work-around that law?
@411Outdoors8 ай бұрын
I would think so but your state should prob have some updates on that as well. You could probably Google search plastic knuckles state of Pennsylvania.

A year and a half ago, I was on a bus coming home from shopping. There was this crazy guy on the bus. He kept saying stuff to me, I didn't give him any dirty looks, I didn't use any profanity, I just said "Nope and Yup" to everything he said, as I was getting off too.

Great advice. In Britain any kind of knuckles are illegal to OWN let alone carry. We are a castrated society here. Only the bad guys carry anything. We are not allowed by LAW to carry anything at all for the purpose of self defence. Even pepper spray is considered a firearm! It’s just crazy. If a woman fought off an attacker at night with pepper spray in Britain SHE would be charged with carrying an offensive weapon. This is why I love America. Never give up your rights.
@taylordw3 ай бұрын
What about walking canes? They can be effective in self defense if used properly. Many people due to injury or age need to use them for mobility. AFAIK legal to carry across the USA

Plastic knuckles are not illegal and if they save you one time from danger , they are worth the small cost. I bought a set for insurance.

Is it adviceable to train and equip a teenage girl with metal knucks, for self defence? It’s the only weapon I know of that cannot be used against her (unlike for example a knife)
@411Outdoors10 ай бұрын
Great question and yes absolutely👍👍 these are a great equalizer. Training consist of being able to get on target quick and effective.
