Having been a LEO, I can attest to the fact that after about 2100, the percentage of folks DUI on the road skyrockets, even on a Tuesday night. Just ain't worth it!

Wait...no. I've got a worse one. I was outside a bar waiting for my ride. I was standing on the sidewalk a good distance away from the entrance. A group of 5 or 6 guys surrounded me. I sweare it's like they spawned into existence. No idea where they came from. They started "hey girl" "whatcha doing out here?", "wanna have some fun?". I recognized one of the guys from high school and I think he recognized me. He said "let's leave her alone." At the time, I thought he saw how scared I was and felt bad. As I grew older and lost the last of my naivety, I realized he probably didn't want to target someone who could identify him to the police.

My closest calls were while delivering pizza 12 years ago. Never go into someone's house if they order food. I was invited into a home to drop off the pizza on the counter, I step inside and the door closes behind me (i could see out of my peripheral that a man was behind the door) another man came down the hall way on my left and stopped at the edge of the hallway, the man who invited me in, stopped walking shortly after I stepped in. "it was at this moment, I knew, I f****** up," my mind went straight to the nearest exit (the sliding glass door behind guy #1 in the living room). I took a deep breath and considered the balck maglight i had sitting in between the handles of my black pizza bag that they couldn't see. Scenarios started to fill my mind as my adrenaline began to spike and Guy #1 looks at me and says, "So how much?" I tell him the amount, he pays me and everyone awkwardly lets me go, the "door man" opens the door and stares me down as I left like I was a snack. I expected to be jumped or robbed, I dont think I looked like the mark they wanted that day, I was Military age/ready. I also like to give credit to my Shepard, Jesus who keeps me safe when I least expect it. Edit: I know that sounds like common sense not to walk into a strangers home but we do it all the time in professional settings, trusting that the customer only wants your service and nothing else. We can drop our guard especially when the trade off is a "bigger tip" or a "manager recommendation for going above and beyond" but when you agree to the clients demands you're no longer in control of the situation...be aware of that and act accordingly.

@@DEAMcN I've kind of believed that, for instance if a dog growls at a pizza delivery driver he cannot just shoot it. I delivered pizza for about a year and I had two guns pulled on me and I was almost robbed a couple of times. One of our drivers was 6 ft 2, ex-con and he carried brass knuckles in his back pocket, he was almost robbed one, when he came back to the shop from his delivery all he said was the guy is missing his whole front row of teeth now

This was back in the early 1970s, I was 20ish, and walking down the sidewalk in the afternoon a man about my age grabbed my arm and tried to push me out into traffic. Thinking this is it, I've got nothing to lose I grab his arm with both hands and hold on. He shouts, what're you doin'? I say, if I'm dying I'm taking you with me. He ran away.

Holy sh.. that's terrifying. Recently a young man was pushed in front of a train in my country - by another young man, apparently not mentally ill and "only" smoking weed. I don't, I can't understand why would a sane person attempt to take a complete stranger's life. It really made me hypervigilant.

Normally when working late in the office we always did that at least few would be but this time I found myself alone. I prepared some boiling water and poured it into my insulated mug as I made my way to the parking lot. It paid off as two shady characters approached me. The leader got the hot water in the face and I bolted away... into my husband's arms who brushed me off and proceeded to do so rough esthetic surgery on the poor souls. He told me that he had a premonition of something happening to me and drove over. After we got safely home while congratulating me on my improvised weapon proceeded to chew me for staying late alone and at least not calling him to come pick me up... I love my man.

Add highway rest stops to your list. I almost got carjacked in one. I woke up in time to stop it. Also, spot on advice about convenience stores. I got robbed at gunpoint in one. The idiot did not recognize me but I did recognize him. A quick look through my high school yearbook and I had his name. He went to prison. Also, do not open your door when someone knocks on it, especially late at night.

Here's a tip you may wish to use. A former flight attendant here - we were highly trained as to where each exit was on the aircraft - how to open them (they're not all the same) and so on. The safety training was INTENSE. Not to mention dealing with bad-behaving passengers while inflight. We had the buddy system at night wherever we went. One man at a hotel grabbed me in a hallway and put me in his room and locked the door. I talked my way out of that one. So here's the tip: whenever you enter any building/aircraft/transporation, find your exits, memorize them and how you're going to get to them in an emergency. Usually people will try to exit a building/airplane through the door they came in. Big mistake. Also, if caught in a riot, head towards the nearest library if open or maybe a church. I've survived a serial killer in Alaska and many bad people. Trust no one is my motto with very few exceptions. Head on a swivel. Ladies, learn self defense. Watch the true crime shows with so many women dead because they couldn't read the unspoken SIGNS. Applies to men as well of course. Mostly due to personal relationships including children's behaviors. Life is a serious business.

Ladies... Do not sit and linger in your car. When you arrive at your destination, get out and go directly indoors. When leaving somewhere, wait to unlock your car remotely until you are close enough to open the door and get in. Dont give anyone the opportunity to get in before you. Great video sir. I've been CCWing for the last 25 years. I live in suburbia and generally live a low risk life. In all these years, the only time I was glas I was carrying was around 11:30pm in a Walmart parking lot 2 days before Christmas. I had to park on the lot outskirts and had only got about 30' from my car when I noticed this guy coming from 3 rows away making a beeline through the cars towards me. His eyes were laser focused on me. When he got about 2 car lengths from me, I turned and faced him with my sweatshirt pulled up slightly and my hand on the grip of my holstered pistol. The guy stopped and said "man I don't want no trouble". I told him "then beat it on out of here" which he did at a trot. I guess what he meant was he didn't want any trouble from me while he held me up.

Years ago stopped in my local 7-11. I had a Dalmatian in my car. Following morning, 8:30 am someone was at my door. Opened door and it was guy I saw at store and he said, I want to know about getting a Dalmatian. I slammed the door and called the cops. He was driving by my house at all times of the day. …I was moving in 2 weeks and never saw him again. Scary and creepy! What if I didn’t slam my door, etc!!

I went to a convenient store one night and when I walked out and got in my car I was grabbed from behind me. Then 3 other men got into my car. I was told to Drive now!! So I did so as best I could. My life was on the line. They demanded that I drive them out of my little town. On the way there was a bridge and I unlocked my seatbelt opened my door and I jumped Out onto the bridge! I jumped up and ran like crazy!! I hit the pavement and kept running! They took my car but I reported them and though I was hurt from jumping It was truly the only way. Please be extremely careful if you have to go to a store at night. It’s Not safe anymore even in a small town.💞

As an over the road truck driver for 40+ years, I often found myself in a lot of bad areas. Inner city deliveries at the rear of stores, Desolate warehouses in the middle of the night, truck stops and rest areas, etc. I wasn't always allowed to carry but I always had something to defend myself with. Maybe a tire knocker or even just an open pocketknife in my hand. But mostly I was armed with my wits and awareness of the situation and always looking and thinking of where the dangers could be. Thankfully I never had to defend myself, mainly because I kept my eyes open and never acted like a victim. If I saw a possible threat, like a group of young guys, I would walk right to them or past them, speaking to them and always being confident and unthreatening. It helps that I'm a pretty big guy, in shape and have a look that is less than friendly. Even though, to my wife and friends, I am known as just a big ol teddy bear and wouldn't hurt anyone unless necessary. I think the most important weapon is attitude and posture, But be ready with a plan B if someone is determined to harm you. Thanks for doing this video.

Every time I leave my apartment, I'm aware of being followed/watched by some suspicious people, so they know where I live [on my own]. This has been going on for more than 2 years now, I guess. I never change my routes, whether it be my early morning walks or otherwise. So far, they have done nothing, whatever that might mean, nor have I tried to challenge them openly. Any time I stop at a convenience store for gas or bathroom breaks I always park away from the store to where I have to walk a bit to get inside. This gives me time as I'm walking toward the store to assess if there is any threat and what is that threat. When pumping my own gas, I always pull through the pumps, If I can, and take gas from the closest end pump so that if there is a fire or some other threat, I can pull out and away as quickly as possible without being trapped or blocked from my exit because others are trying to pull away. Stations with multiple pumps provide that option as they also provide the opportunity for add threats. Always and stop count to three before you step out into the world, look left, look forward and look to the right, then proceed. I do the same before proceeding from a red light that just turned green, left, center, right. Even coming out of a grocery store with my cart, stop on the apron, left, center, right then proceed to my truck. Know who is loitering around the area of your vehicle before you get there. You might want to go back inside and wait until that person or people leave before you begin again and get inside the vehicle. Be aware and be safe.

Here's some points: Another place is running trails, especially for women. People go to places that have wooded remote areas and they are listening to music through ear buds. While running, runners get tired and distracted and makes themselves an easier target. They could even be attacked by a stray dog or wild animals, in some places. Women especially, should never run alone and should stay away from secluded areas. And don't fall into routine behavior patterns that can help a criminal plan and lay and wait for you, along your route. If you keep seeing the same person along your route repeatedly, it may not be a coincidence. Watch to see who is watching you. Don't hyper-focus on tasks while in transitional spaces. Your pet dog, OC spray, your phone, knives or in many cases a firearm, are no match for a surprise attack by a physically stronger attacker/group of attackers. Avoid "void-zones," and always run facing oncoming traffic.

Yep. I am a woman who carries and even had a male friend with me in a pretty safe city. We were last ones out a local hiking trail near sundown and a man tried to block us in, then drove real slow in front of us down the road, and tried to hop out on us at the stop sign. He got two guns pointed in his face, smirked and said nothing and got in his car and left. Thank God my gut told me as soon as I saw the car pulling near the hiking trail entrance that he was going to try to block us in so we could go out the other exit but he still got in front of us on the actual road. Never, ever go to a hiking trail unarmed and alone ladies!

Cardio is key. If you have a high level of vigilance, you CAN escape/evade a surprise attack. Certain areas on a hiking trail where an attacker can hide are usually obvious. Ears open, eyeballs click!

I was walking on a trail in virgina and I saw a man walking and he had a briefcase and I immediately sat down in a slightly crowded area. I just felt everything in the air and idk everywhere literally saying he is beyond dangerous. I knew there was a needle in his briwfcase to knock me out. I was on that trail before and had such a good time cause most of it is secluded and I was a young college student who never had alone time. I wanted to be "normal" and go out of my comfort zonw. Even trying to enjoy myself was hard because I had tried ignoring my spirit saying to be vigilant. I thought it was just an enpoverished mindset of a person who doesn't go into nature. When going out, it's gonna have to be crowded, and even then, I'm gonna watch everything.

I worked at a hospital emergency room and during the day it seemed pretty safe to work there but as night fell the vibe turned dangerous. I had to walk to a parking deck when work was finished. I always asked security to walk me to my car when leaving. I was surprised by this and never felt safe when leaving. Just one way to help stay safe. 😊

Just found your channel recently and subbed. This video confirms I did the right thing at a highway rest stop. I'm 73 now but was in my 40s then. We had to travel at night to see my friends husband in the hospital. My son was with us. We were waiting at the car for him; the place seemingly deserted. I then spot a Huge man near the restroom. He had a bad look and vibe to put it mildly. I immediately went into what i call Mother Bear mode. My countenance screamed "You better not mess with my kid" I was standing bt the vehicle my friend inside. The minute my boy came out. I said Hurry up. He did. As we drive off my friend asked ""What would you have done if that guy went in the restroom? I said I would have gone in after him! having every confidence my adrenaline would pump me to be able to handle this man if need be. My main point being I'm pretty sure he was hanging out rhere looking for potential victims snd decided we were not easy marks Believe me I won't be stopping at highway rest srops niw anytime soon

Good vid! Fmr LEO here. An item on the rise is car jackings. Most modern vehicles self-lock (unless disabled by driver) somewhere between 12-18mph. For example, my Bronco self-locks at 14 and the wife's car at about 17mph. Some of these parking lots are so busy and so large that a vehicle won't self-lock till one gets out on the street. BG's saw you put that large LCD screen or some big ticket item into your vehicle and can have you out of it and on the ground before you could say, "Jack Robinson." In a large Target or Wally World lot, most folks will just keep their heads down and try to go on. If someone does call 911, we'll be there within the half-hour. Sad, but true. This may not be true today, but was true not too many years ago: BG's tend to keep watch over the close-up spaces such as handicap. They know that the ability to fight back diminishes the closer one parks to the entrance. Best solution is to drop off anyone who needs to be close, park out in the sparsely parked areas, walk that extra 40 yards and be a little less of a target.

@@Chanelson2010 Some reasons include the fact that weaker or handicapped folks will try to park closer up. Also, those who are purchasing big-ticket items such as tv's and computers will try to park close to save hefting a big box across the lot. My experience tells me that most thefts have been close up to the building, especially during the Christmas season. Hope that helps

I served as a crime scene investigator for many years, and I have been to all the places you caution about in this video over and over again, interacting with witnesses and victims. Please, be realistic about the risks and know your environment if possible. Avoid high crime areas and danger zones if you can, particularly after dark, and when traveling. Stay safe.

Had a close call in Houston airport before. Like you said in another video. The "possible" predator was nice to me. Im a woman of color, black woman to be specific. Just got my luggage out of my car and headed into the door in the parking garage. A man, who appeared to me to be Hispanic approached all of a sudden sudden from my left. I say all of a sudden, because it was early morning and I didn't hear any cars approach. I felt like maybe this person was already there in the parking garage. Scanned him immediately, he had on preppy clothes and he smiled, said hello. My instinct said naw being "nice" for a reason. I have never in my entire lifetime had a person who looks Hispanic speak to me in English. I immediately pulled out my phone, called a friend and waited to go inside the building after him. I watched him get on the elevator and then I caught another one. My instinct said better safe than sorry.

My Husband prefers I never go anywhere alone. If there is no avoiding it he will make sure it’s during the day. I also make sure to let him know when I arrive or leave. He’s very protective of me. I keep my head on a swivel, I’m always listening closely too.

Funny you say gas stations and convenience stores. My bf and I stopped for gas at a really quiet place somewhere along the way from San Francisco to Carmel. I stayed in the car and saw a guy leaning up on his car just watching and my intuition went into overdrive. I called my bf back into the car and told him. He's involved in law enforcement and we both sat in the car watching the guy. Granted it could have gone badly, but he eventually got into his vehicle and drove off. We went into the store and the guy behind the counter had a guitar and was singing😂. We mentioned it...he said he was aware via the cameras and was very ready to deal with that situation. He implied he had a weapon.

Good vid. I am particularly careful at Walmart and I would never go there at night. Anyway, I am a large man but old. I look around carefully when I get out of the car and when I’m leaving the store. I park away from other cars. Another lady on KZbin had good advice. When you’re leaving the store before you start walking towards your car look carefully to see if there’s anybody standing around. Or, if you didn’t see them at first, turn around and walk back to the store. A small delay may save you a lot if trouble. One other suggestion for women: if some guy gets into your car threatens you and tells you to drive away-don’t do it. Just look at them and say “I’m not going anywhere.” They want you to drive away to where there are fewer witnesses. Don’t be the last witness yourself. Pepper spray in your hand is perfectly legal.

Run errands early in the day. Dont shop at big box stores with giant parking lots. I can easily shop Walmarts online. I have not parked in a deck for 15 yrs at least and when I did I never used the elevator and I carried bear mace in my hand. A girl I went to high school with was stabbed in a parking deck and this was in the late 60s. They have always been sketchy.

1998. I was 38, a really good brown belt. Had jury duty on a Friday. The selection took 8 HOURS !!! The court house is in Ft Worth, Tx. Long walk from the parking lot, up a hill in the bad part of town. Can't have a weapon in that situation. Got selected. Among the 12 of us were 2 little old ladies. It was 9PM on a Friday night when they let us out ! I walked them to their cars and planned accordingly for the next weeks, week long trial. lol Took a piece of thin Lexan, cut it about 1" wide, bent a clip on one end and cut it the exact length of the SOF magazine I was carrying. Used it for a "book marker", rolled up nice and tight. Weapon in hand. Also still carry a strong, solid ink pen in my shirt pocket. Gotta improvise. Earned my Black Belt a few years later. Now I teach at the local rec center and sometimes at the schools. I stress to my students the dangers of a parking lot, not just for "stranger danger", but cars driving way too fast, backing up without looking etc... In my 20's I hung out at a lot of bars and even bounced at one for 20 bucks a night. lol Seen lots, hell, been in lots of street encounters. Maybe a dozen or so, I had to punch my way out. Haven't been in a fight since beginning Martial Arts in 94'. Fought in lots of tournaments though. lol Thanks for sharing. There are many who don't realize the danger we're surrounded by every day.

Having worked in beer sales and distribution for the last 15 years, a lot of our business is located at convenience stores, liquor stores, gas stations, truck stops… avoiding “bad areas” is not a possibility, and it’s taught me a lot about these locations that are high-risk for all sorts of criminality and chaos. This man is spot on with his appraisal. I tell my wife to steer clear of these businesses, especially with kids in tow.

I had some motorcycle driver sit on his bike watching me when i first parked to go into the store today. I saw him taking the gas nozzle out of his tank when i first was pulling in. He wasn't on his phone looking for directions either. My spidy senses were going off big time. I went into the store, came out and he was still there looking at me. At this point i got my very large gsd/husky mix Dru out of the car and pretended to take her to potty away from him. She's very protective and I'm her person of the family. 😊 She truly looks like a wolf. ❤ The guy stared for about 30 seconds longer but then took off. Thx Dru.

Where I live we have temporary social housing set up on some motels. Both my wife and I have been verbally abused by people trying to start fights who frequent these places. Sad but a reality 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

I go to a church that is located in an area of town that has seen better days. There are a few homeless, possibly mentally ill, people in the area and they sometimes wander through the parking lot or even come into the church as they know that there is a food/clothing pantry there. Probably most of them are harmless. However, there is a certain rough element in this neighborhood as well. One day I was coming out of the church with an older gentleman when a fight broke out on a neighboring side street. He started toward the sound of fighting and I had to grab his arm and tell him, No! Do Not Go Over There. Do not stick your nose into this. I used to live in this neighborhood, and these people don't play nice. Do not pay any attention to what is going on over there. They won't appreciate you doing so, you don't live here, and you could make the church a target as well. Let the cops handle it, you stay low, don't call attention to yourself, don't call attention to the church. Trust me, you don't want to know what is going on over there, because it's not safe for you to know what is going on over there. You see, he didn't know the rules of the 'hood and I did, having lived there for a time. This isn't your nice quiet suburban neighborhood where you can bring cookies over to welcome a new neighbor. This is a neighborhood where you are better off not knowing your neighbor. Mind your business, keep to yourself, you'll probably be ok--maybe.

A guy was shadowing me inside a grocery store. When I came out he was waiting at the corner of the exit door. As I started into the parking lot my spidey senses had him right behind me. I started zooming my cart in between cars zig zagging . When I got to my car I backed up to the passenger rear door , cart out, threw groceries in car, locked car and went to the cart corral to look around. I saw him a lane forward walk across the parking lot, climb into a pickup and drive off. He had a red shirt on like the employees but he was not, he radiated really bad energy.

I am a bicycle rider and walker. When I'm out, I am always alert and keeping track of what's going on. But not in an overt way. Plus I am never looking at my phone when I'm out. Don't be a Cell Phone Zombie. Yes, just pay attention what's going on around you. Stay safe, and keep your eyes on the horizon.

I was at a gas station and while pumping gas a guy with a trench coat started walking toward me and opened his coat showing necklaces and asked if I wanted to buy one. I said no. I always lock my car door, have Credit card in my pocket and keys in my pocket. Now I carry pepper spray as well. I haven't gone back to that gas station and never will. Another parking lot an elderly woman was in a wheelchair approaching cars to ask for money, it was a scam! The gas station was a bad area, with windows barred but during the day. Parking kot was at a cvs and in a good area though.

Allowed in by the government; in order to carry out an agenda. An uprising against the indigenous population, at a chosen time. The Islamic thing here has been hell. Almost every woman I know has had a consistent stream of assaults from them. You can't tell which ones are just trying to grope you and which are going to stab you or worse. And if you report to the police you are given 'community guidance' on how not to offend them rather than the crime being logged and looked at. They roam around in groups, have nothing to do but pick on women they see as non human because they are non Muslim. You can't wear a cross in public anymore, poppy's at this time of year are dangerous as well. Carrying any weapon for self defence is illegal and pepper spray is also banned here (considered a firearm). All we can do is improvise innocent seeming items, try to keep the men out of striking distance, and not allow the groups to surround us as they tend to do. I hope something changes soon, even just 10 years ago things were drastically different

I used to go to a gas station very close to home, but in a kind of darkened area. One night at dusk, I stopped there & needed to go inside (pump wouldn’t take my cash). There was a male cashier (I’m female) & he had a friend just hanging out with him. They began flirting with me (& not in an innocent way) & the friend started moving closer to me. As soon as I paid, I got out of there quick, checking to make sure neither was following me. After that, I didn’t go back, even in daylight. There was a well lit, always busy, gas station just a little further away that I began going to.

I was walking w/ my teenage daughter in our neighborhood. The biggest security concern for me with that neighborhood was that it is on the edge of the urban growth boundary. The neighborhood itself is densely packed with young families and there are both an elementary school and a high school there. The main road out goes directly into the countryside. There are many roads branching off from there to various highways in every direction, and it’s not too far to interstate 5, so if someone grabbed a child they could be far away and heading in any direction by the time anyone even knew they were gone. That day my daughter and I were walking up the neighborhood road on the end, next to the countryside. On the first block, facing the main road out of the neighborhood, there was a large white van without windows w/ two men sitting in the front, parked next to the sidewalk. As we passed by, the van started up, making us jump. Something about it felt off so I was on a watchful alert. About 5-10 minutes later the van had turned around and driven past us, turned to go down a cul-de-sac we were about to pass, then came back out and slowly drove by. That was enough for me, so the moment the van turned the corner up ahead out of sight, we RAN the other direction down a short street that backs up to a school field out of sight of the road and cut across back alleys and paths to get home. My kid and I both thought I might be being paranoid but it turned out my instinct was right. Later that week there were reports on the news about a white van with two men attempting to abduct someone in the area.

The predator can pick out the weak and vulnerable. Never walk and monitor your cellular phone. Walk with your head up, and shoulders back. Never look away from a threat, but don’t stare. Always face an entrance when seated in a restaurant, and identify all exits. Have a plan for emergencies, wherever you go.

2:39 I remember I was studying abroad in a uni and went to a grocery store with my 2 flatmates where one lady approached my friend asking for some money and food when we were going inside. We noticed that she was at the door waiting for us. I asked my friend not to engage with the lady because I suspected there were other people with her. We were new here and y here of us looked obviously foreigners it didn’t help that moments earlier our paper bags were torn and the lady saw our pillows and hangers and instantly assumed we were uni freshers and it was arrival week . We didn’t know the city well enough too. We hid in the store and approached a store security personnel and asked his help Seeing the guard speak to us made the lady not approach us. The kind security guard helped us get in our Uber and luckily we made it safely back to our dorm with an interesting incident to tell no harm done

I don't walk at night as of 2019 in my town. I don't wake up with nothing to drink in the middle of the night and go to the convenience store. When I go to the atm, I have a high-powered flashlight, a 4 inch knife, and a 9mm. Simple things.

I do not go to an ATM. I go to my bank which is in a tall building with free underground parking. This is done during the week, not when it opens and not when it closes. I have the cash put in an envelope which is put into a nondescript bag. Always watching for other people. Then the bag is locked in the trunk.

Definitely gas stations. The worst scenario, a man followed me out to my car at night, I noticed and quickly got in and locked the doors. He kept knocking on my window. I was worried maybe I dropped something and was being unfair thinking he's a creep so I cracked my window and he was going on about liking me and wanting us to hang out. Rolled it back up and sped off. Creepy stuff.

My Stepsons are both big Guys ( Baseball & Football players) but we’re not going to risk their safety anyway. When I was much younger I would sometimes get on the earliest or Latest train to NYC now if I go I make sure it’s during peak hours only and that’s not often.

Particularly outside regular hours you need to pay attention. Trust your instincts. No device distractions. Be aware of who's around you. If a stranger calls out. Do not respond. Do not go over. Keep moving. Ignore their belligerence when you do not respond.

Bars: learn & know the right bars to go to. I've found mostly upscale, suburban bars frequented by affluent people are the more peaceful bars in my experience. Anything is possible, but I've never had any problems in these type of bars. You may not like it but it is what it is.

I remember when my son came home for his mid-deployment leave (USMC c 2007). I asked him to come for lunch one day, and he proceeded to tell me all the points between my desk and my car where he would ambush. Opened my eyes up, for sure. Luckily, the night janitor was former military and tended to time his work to walk out any of the ladies who worked late. The ones that scared me the most were the fire escape stairwell that you went through to get to the employee parking lot and yes, the parking structure. Lot of places to hide - blind corners, dumpsters, etc.

Absolutely right. But for the clubs it’s different than gas station because for the gas station you need the fuel to keep going and quite easy to escape with your car compared of the club full of dirt bags and other nonsense people way harder to get out in dangerous situation

Until last year in Oregon the public was not allowed to pump their own gas, all service stations had an attendant who would pump it for you. This was awesome for people, espwwlmen, because we did not have to get out of our cars and AND there was a gas station employee who could stop shady folks from loitering. It sucks that they changed this.

I was working with a nonprofit that had a soup kitchen that served the needy. I had an office in the basement and a male client homeless came in sat down and started talking to me. He had some kind of mental disability. He reached down and removed my sandal grabbed my foot and started to kiss it. I was so grossed out but I was thinking if I overreact he might get violent. I just kept talking to him grabbed my shoe and headed out the door and went to get help. Scared the crap out of me. We ended up getting security cameras and a door with a buzzer.

It can be on a road. I remember one time in south LA walking on the PCH sidewalk when up ahead a young man crossed the road towards me. There definitely was something about the way he walked, kind of like an arrogant like swagger. I was sure he was armed. I changed my path and crossed the road to get out of his way. Cities have become cesspools of crime. You need to always be aware of what's in front and behind you.

All three places are definitely on my list as well too. Really anywhere people congregate en masse are primary targets & fast food restaurants are in the process of being added to my list as well too. They love to BYOB at fast food restaurants now using the fountain drinks cups for hiding their alcohol. So now add in intoxicated people in places where they are not supposed to be intoxicated like fast food restaurants & the amount of places is just astounding. Seriously though it's becoming more frequent. Just at McDonald's the other day and that happened. They were already on to his game with BYOB but it's still better than not to include those as well now too. BTW, I was in between appointments at McDonald's. It was a Friday so I got free medium fries for adding their app.

I live about 15 miles west of St,Louis, MO and there has been a pronounced increase in car jackings (at gas stations) within 50 miles of the city. Often the victim hasn't been aware of their surroundings and the people who seem to be "just standing around" and they are pounced on. Often they have left their keys in the car and doors unlocked while refueling. There have been cases where a baby in a car seat is inside and is taken right along with the vehicle. Usually the assailant isn't armed, but sometimes they are. If they brandish a weapon and it is loaded (you can't tell) , they are prepared to use it. This is occuring even in "good" areas, day or night, mask or not. Take your keys and lock the car. Plan ahead and leave your children at home if possible.

“Sliders” are thieves that stay low and quietly access purses or other valuables left in the passenger seat WHILE people are filling their tanks just on the other side. They usually have a getaway driver on the next pump over. If you’re standing right there with your car, locking it might feel overly paranoid or unnecessary. Or you might want to leave it unlocked for a quick getaway. If that’s the case, you can change your lock settings to prioritize only the drivers side door, or you can lock all doors when you get out and use your physical key to unlock just your drivers door.

Shit can drop anywhere anytime. This happened in my own suburban safe neighborhood. It's 3 am and my ghosts are keeping me awake. I get dressed and go out for a walk. I'm a half mile from home and three young men start following me, calling me out. Neighborhood boys I've seen now and again. I don't run from trouble. Trouble has found me and I am going to deal with it. I'm a 35 year veteran of the Army and SF. I've been in every war and non war you can imagine. I've killed and near been killed. Part of me felt sorry for those young lads. They don't know me. Two of them are out very quickly. I'm old and can't last in a long fight. You go for the inexperienced people. The third one ran off. I went home. Next day I get a visit from the cops. That's a story for another day.

I like in a nice middle-income condo complex. Returned home mid-day, dry and sunny. Returning home from shopping, I spotted a person who I did not recognize and who was acting suspicious. As we were emptying the car, the stranger approached and began a narrative which was highly suspect. We chatted for a moment at a reasonable distance. He then asked me if he could have some money. I told him "No". He stepped toward me and as he did, I bladed away from him and moved my gun hand out of sight. At that point he left very abruptly.

Dam when i was on patrol in Springfield, MA had no choice to go into the nasty areas (Heck even the Burger King was considered the most violent in the state and has now been shut down) lone white guy at night walking even in uniform w/ a sidearm wouldn't keep you from being attacked. i was attacked at my car by a junkie with a needle who the month before i had to give medical aid to after she had been stab in the foot by a john. Alleyways, parking lot , i even had a small park w/ basketball courts , 1 drug store 26 apt buildings. think i used my ASAP more then my sidearm. always lucky when sun started to come up as they would all go pass out for the day lol.
