the reason there isn't really that many 400m runners nearly as good as these guys, is bc, (in my opinion) they don't wanna put in the training it takes to be the best. the 400 and 800 I think are the 2 most brutal races in track & field. its pretty tough honestly, I use to do it, I know. It is probably possible, the world record for open 400 is 43.03 by Wayde van Niekerk of South Africa, but in a relay the times of top runners (going their hardest) are usually lower, due to their split time starting when they get the baton, in which they already have started running.
@Tuhock244 жыл бұрын
Ya he ran 42.93 it’s the fastest 400m ever. This is a relay so it is not the open 400m record. Relays can often be a little faster due to a rolling start

At that time, YES, there's a few coming that might. Either way it was great feat nonetheless.
@ilect16903 жыл бұрын
@@Tuhock24 yeah but it also demands better pacing since you can't go all out at the start since you have to take the baton first, imo the main benefit is being able to have energy to finish fast when it comes to relays

tripleheshy Just about every athlete from every country running at these levels is doing something illegal whether it be epo, growth hormone, etc. Drug testing is a sham. They just randomly announce positive results on some poor schmucks and hide the rest. This applies to all elite sports: football, baseball, basketball, hockey, mma, etc.
@gtrdoc91110 жыл бұрын
tripleheshy Give me a break! Remember the "poor schmuck" Ben Johnson? Every finalist of the Seoul 100m final was on drugs but the IOC decided the least damage would result from announcing a Canadian positive test- God forbid the American icon Carl Lewis should be on drugs. Then there's FloJo. Retires at the PEAK of her athletic years and dies at 38 years old. She had obviously tested positive and was forced to quietly retire by the IOC. Thirdly look at the change in physique of Michael Johnson from 1991 to 1999. He went from being so skinny he had to run around in the shower to get wet to looking like a body builder. Plus look at how comfortable he looked after finishing his 400m WR. That's just freaking abnormal cos he had so much EPO in his system, he probably couldn't get his heart rate above 90. I respect all of them greatly for being incredible athletes but their results are much indebted to PED's. And I don't just mean Americans. Any post circa 1975 world record has been aided to some extent or other by PED's or blood doping.
