“i really wanted to like...and then i picked it” you really captured your disappointment there! it’s a great way of showing that looks need to be backed up by strength if you’re making a lock

Thanks! What lock would you recommend then for a 12mm chain I have for Bike Lock? Thanks in advance 👍🏻

idk how long that took. 30 seconds... a minute... It took you 15 seconds haha

That's so sad. I can feel with you! Do you think that they decided to save money on the core, because picking attacks are uncommon.
@lockpickinglawyer9 жыл бұрын
+Potti314 No idea why this was so easy. I don't think any money was saved because the core is integral to the lock (like many other brass locks).

+LockPickingLawyer I just meant cheap manufacturing in general which may cause inaccuracies in the chambers and pins.

Everytime my boss buys a new lock I come to you to see how easy it is to pick... Every single one he's bought you've picked within 30 seconds.

I purchased the Laclede Security Chain Padlock, it looks sturdy and the shackle is smooth even with my heavy chain... But sadly the core is useless, I can pick it or rack it in 10 seconds, often even by turning the pick 180 degrees around. Did you ever find a good shutter padlock yet? So far the best options appears to be the SBNE12, but it has yet to hit a $100 sale.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
That's the exact lock I would have suggested. Do you have a chain where you can put one end through the other? If so, consider a hidden shackle (Puck) padlock.
@chriss88258 жыл бұрын
I don't, I have the pewag security chain (the one with 62 HRC). It is about 13mm in diameter, so that would only leave about 10mm of the shackle exposed. edit: As the SBME12 apparently has 36mm of the shackle exposed, the chain would be covering ~25mm.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
Nice chain... 62 rockwell is just absurd! For exposed shackle, use a spacer like the ones that come with the IFAM Huno 80, featured in video 192. You can get spacers like this on Amazon (meant for other purposes, but they work).

I think I'll buy one of these as a training lock. My SPP skills need more work and this thing should be ideal. I'm getting tired of just buying Masterlocks for training purposes.👊🐭

Nicely done. The question is how easy it is to do for a thief while he has to look over his shoulder :)

So what Lock would you recommend ???? Thanks for your time !

I wonder if Abus have since put better pin's in these. Repinnable would also be a good option.✌😎

+Rob Risla Thanks. It's true... I was disappointed. It's a beautiful lock and a great design. I just can't get over how easy it was to open.

Seems kind of obvious to make these using a Plus core, yes? I can't imagine it would be significantly-more expensive. Ever tried picking a Laclede? It's mentioned in an earlier comment: Westech Rigging Supply sells these paired with Pewag 3/8 chains.
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
A plus core would be nice... as for Laclede, I've never picked one, but the one I just looked up is just a 5 pin lock. Doesn't seem like it would be a problem.
@TheObimara7 жыл бұрын
Sometimes companies leave out logically-obvious stuff to move people towards higher value items, but there's that Disqus model with a Plus you didn't try to pick that costs a lot let than this one..
@TheObimara7 жыл бұрын
Well, the Laclede arrived! It's a beast of a lock, it seems much larger than the 92W/65. Seems built okay BUT the key bitting is absolutely pathetic: Nothing goes below the main groove; it seems like it could be picked just by shoving a very thin piece of metal into the keyway...

I'd agree, bit of a let down from Abus. That little yellow one Bill was playing with the other day wasn't much better.

What a shame. Also a shame it's not easy to gut and re-pin or replace the core with a decent one.
@lockpickinglawyer9 жыл бұрын
+tensile_spider I'm investigating what it would take. I took it apart by drilling out a hardened steel pin (not an easy thing to do). I'll have to do some more drilling to re-pin. Not sure if I will do it yet.

At 1:01, you inserted the tension bar; you spent precisely 2 seconds telling us what pick you were using, so we shave that off the time and say you started at 1:03, and you opened it at 1:27, for a whopping 24 second total. Way worse than we expect from Abus!
