Last saw that place 40 years ago ! Unfortunately it was always shut so it was good to be reminded of it and to be able to see inside. Since those far off days teenage angst has been replaced by middle age ennui; hair is going but amazingly teeth are hanging in there.

C Cooper I’m glad it brought back some fond memories especially of a full head of hair, which I am also lacking!

Was most pleased to see this mill, Alan. Used to live very near one, and enjoyed the products they sold. Have never seen one so very large, however. Cannot fathom the volume of noise with all three wheels moving the machinery. Would suspect that eventual hearing loss was an occupational hazard. Guillotine locks seem scary; one would have to trust the mechanism to not fail. A most enjoyable video. Thank you so much.

Mills of all kinds were very noisy places, which would certainly have affected people’s hearing. I believe guillotine locks may be found more so on rivers than canals, there are none close to me. Glad you enjoyed watching, take care x

Brilliant yet again.

Your videos are nicely done. Specifically I noticed the music was lower in volume than the spoken words. (So many KZbinrs get this wrong.)
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom. It’s not always easy to get the music volume as you want it but I do my best, so your comment is very much appreciated.

Simply a lovely video, beautifully filmed and put together. An interesting subject with informative narrative. I agree with Tom Lewis regarding the music and voice sound levels. Very relaxing to watch.

Hi Ray. That’s very kind of you to offer but I’m not sure I know the Buckton you’re talking of. I haven’t yet ventured very far but hope to do a longer trip in a couple of months. Cheers.

You need to make a playlist that starts with your first episode and finishes with your current episode
@MyNarrowboatVenture Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure that is a wise thing to do!
@clintromine802 Жыл бұрын
Lol why not
@InterestInHeritage Жыл бұрын
@@clintromine802 Because I keep grouped videos in separate playlists, which do not run consecutively and also I think it could cause issues with You Tube, if someone leaves a playlist running.

the river ouse is also 4mph but sometimes the river flow can be 3mph thats why it said 7mph.
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ray I expect there are variable speed limits for different parts of the river.

Again, another interesting bit of History. I'm curious, do you know if the hydro supplies electric for only the Mill property, or is it saving a wider area? I could hear what I thought was the whine of a turbine at one point.
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Zach. I’ve checked and the hydro powered turbine runs the mill, millstones, tea room and some is sold back to the National Grid.
