This project is insane, ive been through everything you mentioned but with concrete and one 12 feet of starfire glass. Its been 4 years and i am still not done (i have many things going on on the side). You deserve to be a certified project manager for this video alone...thanks for sharing and dont forget cerium oxide is your friend ;-)

Thank you for covering the logistics and including such detail. What an epic project! Not too bad, only a few minor chips that didn't impede the quality of the glass.

Great work Alex! The amount of effort and prep is mind blowing!
@algawura2
@algawura2 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Aquarium Adventures. Until I made the video and talked out all the prep work I did not realized just how much was involved since it was spaced out over a couple of months. On to preparation for sealing the glass. I am guessing another week or two of prep and test runs before I seal it in place.

Congrats on planning ahead for such a smooth execution! The time and effort you took is amazing and it paid off big time. I had a similar gut-wrenching move-in of my 60x60x21” display and hiring a top-notch mover made all the difference. They were excited to do it and I think that’s one of the reasons it went so well. Not that there weren’t any “moments” but it all worked out. ON WITH THE SHOW! 💥

Yeah I know what vendor you used, lol. We met at a gas station like 2hours from the house, and then I had to rent a truck, built a frame to transport it. Had friends come over to move the glass. Still ended up cracking one corner. It all ended well. that cracked corner wasn't bad and would never see water. Tank has been running since 2017 with zero issues. Again, thanks for all of the help over the years, your videos taught me a lot and gave me the confidence to bult my 800 gal tank.

Thanks. Time, patience, planning, and a bunch of help can move anything. Part of the reason I wanted to share was to let anyone considering a build like this what it takes to get the glass delivered.

I want to double dip here.. Ive been following you for as long as I can remember you youtubing. I appreciate your approach. You seem to build and share your journey, because you really enjoy it. You're not out to impress or show off. But your accomplishments do impress ! My wife looks at me and wonders why I keep building plywood tanks? Because I enjoy it and its for me. I do like sharing and trying to help anyone along the way though.. Keep on keeping on and stay humble.. Great stuff !

that must have been a huge relief to have done, keep up the great work you mad man. what are the electrical bills going to look like? $500/mo?
@algawura2
@algawura2 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg. I was decompressing for a day or two after the move. By far the most stressful part of this build. I have to move the sheets of glass a few times for final positioning and during the sealing process but that's far less complicated moving a sheet of glass that just has to slightly slide or or be moved a few feet vertically. Not sure on the electric bill yet but I already have 2100 gallons running so its in the 300 range for now.

Will this be salt water? Also I would still love to see more of the process! I love DIY builds. I am glad I found ya!
@algawura2
@algawura2 Жыл бұрын
Yes this will be saltwater. 2/3s coral reef & 1/3 non-reef safe fish separated with a double water passthrough divider. This display will eventually be tied into my fish room that totals ~2100gallons. If you have any specific questions please let me know. I make videos for each major step completed on this build along with a bunch of videos on my last system.

Do you have a link for the suction cups? I have a 225 gallon I need to move and that would be a big help. Thanks
@algawura2
@algawura2 Жыл бұрын
Here is a link. I would not trust suction cups alone and make sure there is some additional supports. They are rated by the lifting capacity. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B94FMR3Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

This was 1000 times more crazy than me having to move my 225 gallon into my basement and I thought I was gonna have 3 heart attacks. Idk if you mentioned it but how long did the whole moving process take?
@algawura2
@algawura2 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Arrick L. I don't believe I mentioned the move time. It was around 4 hours total from the time I met the movers at the freight terminal until I settled the bill and they left. It was so much going on so fast it felt like 20minutes. When the glass got covered in condensation when we unpacked it I thought for sure we were going to have a close call or break something but it worked out.
