Its the PH of the soil that matters most. If its correct, that's when the ph will be buffered to the correct range when watering. I test my batches of super soil while they are " cooking " before the soil gets even put into pots. 6.5 is what I aim for with the soil. Totally changed the hobby for me when I worked this out.

@@420scene thanks man! Up potting all my clones from 1g to 10g trying two different kinds of organic soil. A local to me organic soil used by Galenas Cannabis called Tilth Soil and then BAS 3.0 recipe for the other girls. Both are supposed to be water only with maybe a top dress midway through flower. Coming off happy frog/synthetic so I’m looking forward to less nute mixing

Here lately I’ve been doing a synganic approach I amend my coco with a handful of things for veg and let her grow until she starts running out of food then switch over to a 3 part micro, grow and bloom and I’ve had amazing results with it. My veg mix is a little hot so I do lose one here and there but the way I see it, I want heavy feeders anyways for the fattest and dankest plants I can get so I don’t mind sacrificing a couple weaklings for it. My last run I took a 5kg brick of coco and rehydrated it with 5 gallons of water I mixed 20mL of CalMag into then I put in 3 pounds of Terp Tea Grow, 4 pounds of diatomaceous earth, 1kg of basalt rock dust, 8oz of granular mycorrhizae and 4.5 pounds of worm castings. I took a solo cup of just the rehydrated coco with calmag in it to germinate my seed and let it veg for a little over 2 weeks before I transplanted it into that mix and it thrived. Made it more than 60 days in veg and still wasn’t out of food but I ended up flipping it anyways and didn’t start hitting it with my micro grow and bloom suite until the end of the 2nd week of flower. Added a pk booster in at the end of week 4 and that was it. Was the biggest harvest I’ve ever gotten off of a single indoor at over 3.5 pounds and I don’t even have top of the line equipment. I knew it was gonna be a big harvest but when I put it on the scale I about passed out. 🤣

Great advice! I like to have the right PH going in, and what makes it super easy for me is I have now started using the BioCanna feed line, which automatically places water to the perfect PH (between 5.8 and 6.5). It’s an organic ferment; not salt based, so I never have to worry about nute burn. I actually have my Apera PH pen up for sale because I don’t use it anymore.

My soil ph is coming up 8.2 to 8.6 so i guess thats why im having the issues . My local tap water is coming out in the high 7's so ill be using some sort of PH down fron here on in . Can you tell me how i can get the soil ph back to a good level please if you could ? came across this channel a few weeks ago and its one of the better ones . Straightforward , full of info and easy to understand

I learned the hard way after about 3 runs with no PH ( I thought my well water was fine ) I finally tested my water and it was almost 9! With powerful lights they need all those nutes and they were not getting them at 9 PH lockout symptoms. As soon as I brought the PH down I had no problems and they looked so much better.

When I first started growing, I suspected nutrient lockout and started reading about fixes and came across an interesting article (use EM-1). Look into foliar spraying (quickest) and/or watering in with EM-1, if you suspect nutrient lockout. It increases nutrient availability by making nutrients more bioavailable. Now, I just add it with each new grow. Fairly new grower, so my problem is learning how to identify and distinguish deficiencies properly.

City water isn't that good, mine is around 7 to 8, I always pH, but Scotty said I didn't need to pH if I'm using recharge, which imma try next grow and see if it matters to pH if using recharge. After adding silica and calmag and few other nuets the pH is usually around 9.0+ depending on nuets used, so even if recharge is used I pH before adding. They seem to like the pH around 6.2. Adding just regular calmag water with lights on hasn't messed with any of my ladies, I'll spray an hour after lights come on or few hours before lights out, not once had it burned my leaves, I'm using an SF 2000 in a 2x4. Oh btw, real preachers have said worse, I wouldn't worry about that too much coming from a minister myself.
