Evening Steve. It was a lovely day to visit, I enjoyed it very much. I’ve visited a lot of miniature railways over the years but none in recent times. This was a well looked after line and station. All the best 🥂

Thank you Alan, what an entertaining episode on this track, skilfully operated by young volunteers, a bit wobbly but I'm sure it was safe enough for being a passenger aboard.😂❤

If you like narrow gauge railways you should visit Ravenglass and Eskdale railway in South Cumbria. There’s seven miles of track running through picturesque Eskdale.

When I mention cottages/residences I am referring to the Muskoka lakes as this being a man made reservoir, it is highly unlikely to have these but it does seem to have facilities for docking and/or mooring watercraft.

Some reservoirs are actively used for water sports and have sailing clubs on site, but there is none of this at Tittesworth Reservoir from what I've seen and looking at Google Maps.

That’s great news, thank you so much for your comment. My channel is mainly about Narrowboating though I always have incorporated heritage topics. I did set up a separate KZbin channel called Interest In Heritage. As it wasn’t very successful I abandoned it but it is still live and you may find something of interest there to watch, as well as heritage items on this channel. Thanks again Alan, cheers🤠👍

That forested landscape could well pass for the Muskoka lakes in Ontario, Canada with the watercraft, fishing, cottages/residences and boat houses on the shores (hopefully minus the black flies, mosquitos, deer flies, horse flies...). That wee railway parallels (in a very small way) the Canals as it is on a line that was originally largely intended to move goods for industry and commerce and fell out of use as those industries changed and/or faded away. It was then "reborn" for leisure purposes. Likewise the canals were originally intended for industry and commerce and, likewise, many of them were closed, abandoned and in some cases literally destroyed by those who really couldn't have dreamt of their current popularity and the "spin-off" commercial possibilities that it has generated (boat building and repair, marinas, chandleries, general services and even the ever present government fees, licenses, taxes...). Even the upkeep of the existing network generates a labor force and their own industries that provide the rather specialized bits and pieces required to keep the canals and locks operational. It is great to hear of the ongoing work to rehabilitate some of the old disused canals.

I've never been to Canada but from what I've heard it's a great place to visit. The canals came, and then the railways, many being sited close to canals, where the ground was level. The railways took business away from the canals, the canals declined but there has been a resurgence for leisure purposes. Even the railways are very popular but there has been lack of investment over many years, which tends to be called subsidy rather than investment. Limited capacity on existing rails is an issue when trying to improve services. There are many canals being restored but it's a long, slow and expensive process but a very welcome one.
