Good Defense! Just add cover 2 man under in your “Dime Package (6 DB’s)”! The two FS’s play cover 2 and the rest of the secondary play man up!

Mattias, 2 read is a pattern matching defense. Safety and corner play their assignment based on release of #2. The nickel backer also plays his coverage off the release of 2 and 3.

Alignment of which safety? Our corner plays man on #1 95% of the time, you can zone him and the FS off deep if you wanted to.

You wont always have all the field covered, but you are playing base coverages behind the front which keeps it simple for the back end.

With 3X1 when you play MIX what is the alignment of your safety, and does the corner always play man except shallow cross in MIX?

Just a quick question, what do you mean by 2 read? is it a simpel #1 and #2 read for the safty, like in cover 2? I probably know what you mean, just calling it something else.

By playing man on #1 to Trips you eliminate him from pattern match which now leaves you a 2x1 set. Now you can play Palms to the 2 remaining receivers, its just with 2 safeties playing it instead of a safety and corner. This allows you to bracket the backside single.
