I would highly doubt it, if the guy even has children, that is. If he doesn't it'd end up getting dragged to a scrapyard where someone else would try and save it, or it'd get thrown into an estate auction. His kid(s) could be chompin at the bit to finally own it. Granted the whole 'kid gets deceased parent/grandparent's old car, and sells it for scrap' stuff does happen, but it happens less and less nowadays with the internet and information being what it is. Just as a basic example, the one of the kids ends up with it, their wife Googles 66 corvette to get the weight to see how much it's worth in scrap, and among the results sees a corvette of the same year that sold for 6 figures and their mouth starts watering.

I actually sold this car to Dave Hernandez, Those 20 year old wheels were the first 20's made by American for a Corvette, they wanted to do a follow up but the project obviously took too long. I had the car for about 20 years and started the LS swap back when it wasn't so popular, also removed the hideous fiberglass and put Ecklers glass on the body. Then realized I would never finish it. Along came Dave to the rescue, he put a bunch more work into it to get it to its current state. So happy to see my baby have a chance to get finished! Best of luck Finn ! Keep us posted! Think about it: in 1985 a high school senior had a 65 corvette roadster, and drove it back and forth to school! That first one could make a good project for someone who could do the majority of the work themselves. Good thing with the corvettes is that the body’s don’t rust away. So, can usually fix the chassis and drivetrain then have something that’s at least drivable. Then a bit of bodywork and it’s somewhat a decent car.

Years ago, I lucked upon a numbers 65 Stingray L76 365hp 4 speed coup, that had been sitting in the guys backyard in Florida since about 1972, he said he parked it because it didn't have air conditioning. I ended up buying it for a few thousand dollars, but it was pretty much roached out. The frame was really rusty and the worst part was all the drip rails were rusted and gone. I do regret selling that one.

I found a 1970 454 auto Corvette ,Picked it up for 3000$ cash . Rebuilt the 454 Balanced and blue printed but Mike at Auburn Machine. Fun times.
