Hey I take offense to that smells like old people LOL, great video and cool caddy. That engine is so much better than the North Star engine by far. Can’t wait to see it completed.

I drive my 67 every day and I have never rebuilt a engine (I’m 18) and this is my first car it looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me when it decided to die on me

The power window motors are rebuildable. most likely the plug at the motor. They have door drains to drain water from inside the door. Cadillac put a rubber oneway seal on the underside to allow water out but stop air from pushing in making a draft. they sometimes stick or dirt clogs the drain and the door fills with water rusting the plug prongs. the other issue is a greasy commutator. Prop the window up so you don't get hurt when the window drops taking out the motor. they are bolted together clean regrease replace the brushes if needed. I had a 67 with multiple issues soldered new wires with plug ends, (they rusted off) took apart the up/down switches cleaned the contacts, (Most were ok but I did them all) some Drivers door switches only worked one way, and took apart female switch plug cleaned and tightened the loops. (that fixed slow windows) My car had 8 power windows. there is a KZbinr Old Car Alley soaks plug ends in toilet bowl cleaner. Makes them like new. I'm dying to try it.

You can lift out engine and transmission together if you lift the front of the car up high on jack stands. Have 7 65-66 cads and have done a few times.

Have a '65 Caddi 429 engine, trans, 59k miles, in garage, always wanted to put into something else. '64 Ford 352 rebuilt longblock in livingroom, Stuck in a city in free USA where you're not even allowed to work on your car in your own driveway or back yard. Fined over $500 for connecting battery charger to dead battery, because hood was open about 1 inch, city had photos in court of hood barely open. City said was inoperable with hood open and inoperative vehicle is not allowed. Did not matter vehicle was registered, licensed, insured.

I happen to be needing a new engine at this point, #4 exhaust valve shelled out the guide and pounded out the seat. Trying to figure out what I want to do with it. Kansas doesn't care, as long as you're not in an HOA, you can do whatever you want with cars on your property.

@@sutterbysstreetrods4023 you interested in buying my engine and transmission? I can post it on eBay or however you want to do it? I have a 65 Fleetwood Cadillac that I don’t have a title for yet. It’s going to require a lot of work and I don’t have the time to build the car yet. Willing to sell parts or whatever off of it. If you’re interested you can contact me on Facebook, Instagram etc. Let me know and I’ll give you my name on my social media accounts so you can see it. I haven’t put money into get the engine running because I was waiting to get the title first. Didn’t want to put money into until I was sure I could get the title. I’m willing to sell the engine and transmission.

Good video… did you redo the heads with harden valves?
@sutterbysstreetrods4023 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I had the heads done with hardened seats and brand new valves that should withstand today’s fuels better.

Are these engines considered reliable?
@sutterbysstreetrods4023 Жыл бұрын
I’m really not sure, to be honest. As reliable as an old carbureted engine can be I suppose! It’s no LS, but when dialed in right, one pump of the gas pedal on a cold morning to set the choke and it will fire right up. I put 2500 miles on it the summer after I rebuilt it, drove it three hours straight many times.

I just got one of these but it’s a 4 door. Where did you order your parts for the engine?
@sutterbysstreetrods40232 жыл бұрын
I apologize man, just now saw all your comments! I ordered most of my engine parts from RockAuto actually, they had a surprising amount of parts for it. Couple things came from eBay, couple things came from Jegs. Trans is the stock Super Turbine 400.
