I am currently having my 1967 deVille convertible 429 engine rebuilt. The exhaust manifolds had to be replaced and cost me $1900 for the pair of very nice ones. Car has just hit 200,000 miles and was bought new by my Dad in 67. He gave it to me when I was 12 years old (1976). He was gonna junk it. Hopefully it will be complete by this Memorial Day for the parades. By the time its done, I expect it have costs me around $8000 !!!

How's that rebuild going? I just picked up a 66 coupe deville

@@ricardopereyda2024 Engine rebuild ended going from 2 week job to 8 weeks. Estimated cost went from $6400 to actual $11,000 ! Needed to purchase 2 used exhaust manifolds, lower pulley, rebuild carburetor. Rear main seal was a headache to keep from leaking. Fuel pump housing had a leak that took a while to stop. The car now has about 450 miles and it has a small leak coming from the oil pan. When I bring it back for the 1000 mile check, they will address that issue. Finding quality "used" parts cost a small fortune. That's why the costs went up so much. 2000k for exhaust manifolds alone. They did look like brand new. Dad's car gets to live for at least another generation !

Sorry man, just saw this. eBay would be the best bet for the ignition switch, not sure on the glass.

Update** My 67' deville is back in the engine shop. It was there for the 1000 mile check up and oil change. The car is STILL leaking at the rear main seal. So far I am at 6 rear main seal replacements. The engine builder is going to measure the diameter of the crank shaft where the rubber seal makes contact. He thinks the crank diameter is worn down. Car has 200,000 miles on her. If the diameter is off, I will need to find another crankshaft. Very frustrating. The oil pan needs a new gasket also. I did have the car in the NYC Columbus Day parade last week !

Update,Update**** My 429 engine rebuild has turned into a total DISASTER. Replaced rear main seals SIX TIMES ! Total time in the engine shop was 10 weeks. The crankshaft diameter is normal. The engine guy says that he took a huge loss on rebuilding and then trying NUMEROUS times and different techniques to stop the rear main seal leaks. I know that he could have done at least 7-8 cars . I don't blame the builder at all. It appears that the block line bore that was done 35 years ago and the new rebuild just aggravated the issue. I basically need a new engine block. THAT , is not happening. I'm going to park the car for the winter and now start looking to put a BRAND NEW LS motor into the car. I guess I will have to take this motor out and try and sell it for parts or as a paperweight. I am totally depressed ! What a waste of time and money.
