42RE Rebuild Part 1

Here is the first part of a video series I made while rebuilding the 42RE (version of the A518 torqueflite transmission*) out of a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.0L straight six. 2WD
I go over the steps to take apart the transmission and reassemble it, talking about the details on the way, what tools I used, torque specs, issues that arose and how I was dealing with them.
If you have the 4x4 version of the transmission the rear seal and the overdrive tailpiece will be a different shape, also the speed sensor is moved to the transfer case, but almost all of the other details should be similar or the same.**

the Accumulator rebuild,
front reaction pin removal,
oil pump removal,

*The A518, later renamed 46RH (hydraulic controlled governor pressure) and 46RE/42RE (electronic controlled governor pressure), is an A727 derivative with overdrive, in the A500 ilk.
**If you are a whacky gear head like me and want to take the tailpiece off of a 4WD jeep and add it to your 2WD version of the trans. in a crazy 4x4 upgrade (which none of us should probably eve do to ourselves) I was told the intermediate shaft would also have to be swapped out.
