When I was a child (like 7 or younger) I was forced into Christianity. The thing I hated most was that I "wouldn't see my dad in heaven because he's a nonbeliever". People flat out told me my dad would burn in hell for all eternity and I would cry my eyes out all the time. Now as an atheist, remembering that makes me hate their religion even more.

Mustafa If emotions like “Anger, Jealousy, and Saddness” define who you are then I really hope you find peace soon, brother XD But on a real note the essence of heaven is in the name. @@Art3615 We don't actually believe in your heaven. The whole point of the question was to point out that the idea of heaven is illogical no matter which way you imagine it. If there actually was a heaven, it would eventually turn into a hell because it would literally never end. Then, if you believe that heaven changes your mind in some way then it wouldn't actually be you. I get that everyone has their own version of heaven in their mind but no matter what, the idea is flawed. For that matter, hell would only be hellish because it never ends. Any sort of discomfort from burning, or whatever your idea of hell is, would eventually just become normal to you. It's eternity that would become unbearable. Around 9 or 10 I read Revelation for the first time and heaven sounded horrible - Praising god and bowing and worshiping ALL THE TIME and listening to trumpets and harps (I hated orchestral music). I remember feeling evil for not wanting to go to heaven. I regret letting my childhood emotions be hijacked by religious nonsense.

Yeah, but that's the line between the saved and unsaved. When I read, "I don't want to serve God, I don't want to bow to him in love, and I don't want to hear his music." The first thing I assume is, this guy is NOT a part of of God's portion, and will not be saved. It right now, it's probably true, unless he has EVER told you he was keeping you. For me, I can't wait to hug Jesus, I have already said in my life after being saved that I cannot WAIT to be at his feet telling him I love him, and he is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced, and I have cried saying "I love you." See the difference between us? The saved and unsaved, his portion. That's why it says we are HIS PORTION. We love him, and can't wait to be with him, the lost think different. Like you. They don't love God, they don't love the things he's created, and they could care less about everything, including his music. Does that sound like his portion, his choice pick? Maybe you don't care, but you should be begging God to heal you, and your relationship with him.

Of course there's sports. While Earth is still around you'll be able to watch the living play sports. And once God has destroyed the earth and there's no one left for him to banish to hell, God will have all the angels have a pissing contest to prove which angels worship him most and banish the losers. You won't have to just watch the sports, you'll get to take part and risk eternal torment for eternity.

Here's a real answer. Of course there are sports. There will be everything that exists now except the presence or possibility of sin. Losing is not a sin. So there will be winners and losers. This life is a shadow type. Maybe a good analogy is that this world is like a black and white connect the dots picture or a picture in the dark. With God's full presence and sinless humans and angels the lights go on and everything's the same but clear and full. The dots get connected and colored. The shadows disappear and the vivid real thing begins. Hope this is helpful

Telagio wrote: "Abraham had no children and God GAVE him a son, when his wife had been barren till 90 yrs old." Typical Christian; doesn't even know what's in the bible... Abraham DID have a son before Isaac (supposedly) came along - Ismael. The claim that the bible writers made, which was that Ismael was born of an enslaved Egyptian woman, is highly ironic considering that the Egyptians didn't enslave the Israelites in Egypt; the Egyptians enslaved Israelites/Canaanites IN the land of Canaan/Israel. The Egyptians conquered the land of Canaan aka Israel & ruled that area for 300 years. So it's more likely that the "Egyptian slave woman Hagar" is a wishful Israelite fantasy, as is the rest of the origin myth of "Abraham" & "Isaac". However the tidbit about child sacrifice - there are other indications that the Israelites did engage in child sacrifice - to the YHWH god as well as to the other Canaanite gods.

You know, the movie "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya" makes some pretty good points at the end about how the heaven that we imagine is really really terrible! I'm surprised more people, especially Atheists, haven't actually watched it. Not to mention, this movie should have way more recognition. Another great question about Heaven: "Would you lose all your memories in heaven?" Think about it, if you have your previous memories you may not always be happy because there will be things you regret having never done, or things you don't want to remember. But also, there may be things you long to have again, like emotions, but if you have no memory of them, then you are blissful and happy in heaven. Which as the movie (The Tale of the Princess Kaguya) states, is just depressingly terrible. Like, Who wants to lose all their memories forever!? But if you want to be happy in heaven, well, that's kind of the only way because memories will only hold you back from that "eternal bliss"

He may be able to force you into the church building but he can't force you to believe the nonsense when you are there. I would suggest while the preacher is preaching play a debating game with him in your head. Try to remember his points and check them out later on atheist sites like this. Always remember, forced religious indoctrination is a form of child abuse and he has no right to do what he is doing. You will resent him for this all your life. But don't be overly hard on him because he was victimized too. It's just the way religion works. Just thank your lucky stars that your parents are not like him! Hold tight. What's the monetary value of material items in heaven? If material items from this world hold no value in heaven... Why are the roads paved in gold in heaven? If heaven is a place of happiness... Will that mean I will live another human life on earth, but for eternity? Reason being, I am happy and satisfied in my current human form. There's no need for all the extras. Does somebody have the option to not go to heaven or hell, and just cease to exist? Eternity is a long time. Do I have to keep being good in heaven or once your in, your in... ( many people have there own opinion, ight) Why don't we just respect each other beliefs and ideas. (I'm welling to learn new ideas, and lesson so that I could be open minded to learn more about life.) Yet, still people do need to respect each other ideas, beliefs, and opinion; could that move mankind forward? Alberto Lopez Respecting other _people_ and respecting their _beliefs and ideas_ are two very different things. In my view, people are deserving of respect until they prove themselves otherwise. I am talking about treating people with kindness, courtesy, dignity, and so on, up until they start being assholes in some way. Ideas and beliefs are the opposite: they are deserving of respect only AFTER they have been proven to deserve it. If we were to meet and you started saying beliefs and ideas that I thought were ridiculous, ignorant, or dangerous, I would have no problem telling you so, though I would try to be civil about it, as above. Why should we respect silly beliefs and bad ideas? If I have an idea, and you can show me how it's bad, I would want you to tell me, because I don't want to walk around thinking bad ideas or untrue beliefs. There's this weird attitude many people have that any religious belief automatically deserves respect, and that if you say something against it, you're being offensive. This is wrong. If your belief is actually true and I'm mistaken in criticizing it, you should be able to show me that. If you can't, you should stop holding silly or unjustified beliefs. Either way, you are not your beliefs, and people shouldn't take criticism of beliefs as attacks upon themselves.

Here is my answer to these questions, in case somebody was interested: *age, babies, fetuses and old people* I believe we will be in our best strength, so we'll probably be quite young, around earthly 20-30 years old maybe? And yes, babies, fetuses and old people (as well as everyone else) will get new, glorified and resureccted physical bodies, that will not be able to age. But i believe that there won't really be the term of age, cause there will be no time as we know it in this world. We will just exist, being able to talk to unborn children as we're all equal. *jealousy* No. Jealousy is something that is not necessarily a sin, but just like anger, these emotions are not good or something you'd want to feel, so they won't be a part of eternal life in heaven. *food* If there is food in heaven, it will probably be plant-based, just as it was in the begining of Genesis. It shall also be very tasty, delightful and idk, God is very creative! But I don't know for sure. *bugs* Nothing should bother you in heaven. If animals will exist after death, they will definitely be in heaven, but not in a way that they might kill/injure/annoy you. Again, as heaven is a perfect place, not a thing should be annoying. *disabilities* We will be given new, glorified and FLAWLESS bodies. So I suppose no acne nor wheelchairs will be in heaven. Our bodies will be incapable of any sickness. *people in heaven* We will only have some memory of our earthly lives, but I believe only happy memories, and we will also recognize our loved ones and Bible heros and stuff. So, if your murderer ends up in heaven, you might run into him but because you'll be incapable of sadness or anger of any form, it won't be "awkward" or hurtful to any of you. For the same reasons, a situation of you not wanting to see a certain person won't occur. Again, there will be no more tears and no more pain, so after the final judgement we probably won't remember a loved one that went to hell. *sex* There will be no sex in heaven. We will not have the sexual desire, we will do much more pleasurable activities instead. *house and tesla* Yes, you'll probably live in a mansion-like building. The Bible doesn't mention roads, but it does mention streets of gold. And there probably won't be cars, sorry :D *sleep* Because our bodies will be perfect, we won't sleep bc we won't need it, nor be tired. *intelligence* I really don't know, but you will definitely know more things than you do now. *temperature&weather* I think it'll be just fine and nobody will really fight about that. the wheather will be pleasant and suitable for everyone. *happiness and worship* Yes, we will be happy, and it will not get old because boredom will not exist. The same applies to "church". Yes, we will worship God forever, and it will be a far better experience than our brains can imagine. God says we can't even comprehend what he's got in store in heaven, so whatever it is, it'll be freaking awesome. *christians* Well, if you're in heaven I suppose you're a Christian, and anyway once you experience who God is you can't stop talking about him. Afterall, heaven will be a PERFECT place, and it will be much better than this world. So imagine heaven as Earth without pain, death, sickness, annoying people, fights, cheating, garbage, ugliness, fear, disasters, suffering, emptiness, anger, jealousy and discontentment. Rather like a paradise full of worship, endless joy, jokes, songs, dancing maybe even sports, arts, flawlessness and something so awesome we can't even imagine. Alright. Except for the terrorist question (which I have no clue about) I tried to answer the questions as clearly and truthfully as possible. I'll give a stab at this as a Christian. (i)Heaven and Hell aren't actual physical places. It's a state of being in the presence of God -According to the Eastern Fathers there are two characteristics of God that are fundamental. 1)God is Love(1 John 4). 2)God's essence is like an unquenchable fire(Hebrews 12:29). -From the Christian perspective the unquenchable fire of God's love will one day illuminate the whole world so that when we come face to face with God we are coming face to face with Love itself. -The condition of the human heart in the face of pure Love is heaven and hell for us. For a person who's heart is conditioned towards evil and unrighteousness, God's presence is like a fire that burns their conscience with regret. For a person who's heart is geared towards righteousness God's presence feels like Paradise. So heaven and hell is the condition of the human heart in the presence of Divine Love. -Dostoevsky in the Brother's Karamazov sums it up in this quote: "What is hell?' I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love. Once in infinite existence, immeasurable in time and space, a spiritual creature was given on his coming to earth, the power of saying, 'I am and I love.' Once, only once, there was given him a moment of active living love and for that was earthly life given him, and with it times and seasons. And that happy creature rejected the priceless gift, prized it and loved it not, scorned it and remained callous. Such a one, having left the earth, sees Abraham’s bosom and talks with Abraham as we are told in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, and beholds heaven and can go up to the Lord. But that is just his torment, to rise up to the Lord without ever having loved, to be brought close to those who have loved when he has despised their love. For he sees clearly and says to himself, 'Now I have understanding and though I now thirst to love, there will be nothing great, no sacrifice in my love, for my earthly life is over, and Abraham will not come even with a drop of living water (that is the gift of earthly, active life) to cool the fiery thirst of spiritual love which burns in me now, though I despised it on earth; there is no more life for me and will be no more time! Even though I would gladly give my life for others, it can never be, for that life is passed which can be sacrificed for love, and now there is a gulf fixed between that life and this existence.'" (ii)N.T Wright one of the most prominent Biblical scholars in his book Surprised by Hope points out that the hope of the Bible isn't actually escaping the world and flying off to heaven -The hope of the Bible is what is called "New Creation". So in other words the healing of the world and the healing of humanity so that the world is filled with righteousness and justice. -The concept of wanting to escape the world and fly off to heaven isn't really Biblical. That's more of a mixed of Gnosticism and Plato's philosophy more than anything. (iii)No. Everyone who isn't a Christian does not God to hell. The criteria of judgement isn't your religious affiliation, but your actions. And Jesus lays out these criteria. 1)How you treated the poor. 2)How your treated the sick. 3)How you treated those in prison. 4)How you treated the stranger. The Good Samaritan was not a Christian and yet according to Christ he gained entry into the Kingdom of God for his action of loving his neighbor as himself.
@repoocau7 жыл бұрын
Re (iii) Just to clarify, are you saying that if you live a good life treating others with compassion your religion or lack of belief in God are irrelevant? If so, why do Christians spend so much effort trying to convert non-Christians? Why wouldn't they just model and preach compassion?
@jamaicanification7 жыл бұрын
We are called to go out and make disciples in the world(Matthew 28:18-20). But we are also called to respect people's consciences. In Luke's gospel for instance when Jesus preached the Good News the Samaritans rejected it(Luke 9:51-56). The disciples were about to condemn them and Jesus rebuked them for their condemnation. In terms of modelling compassion there are many Christians who do that. Pope Francis for instance has called prosletyzing "solemn nonsense" and has also said that agnostics and atheists who follow their consciences in doing good can go to heaven. He in his Christmas Homily in 2013 also called for theists and non theists to work together on problems affecting the planet from Climate change, to how migrants and refugees are treated.

In Heaven there is no unhappiness or desire to sin. This answers some of the questions, such as jealousy, or seeing old relatives you didn’t like. It’s kind of hard to comprehend because it’s something we have never experienced in our earthly lives
@Skulldini3 жыл бұрын
"desire to sin" .. . ahhhh could you please be a bit SPECIFIC about WHAT you mean by "sin" there? .. . like will people there have the "desire" to ohhhhh dance or swim or joke or kiss or flirt or date or laugh or watch movies or wear shorts or a miniskirt? . .. now I've heard plenty of religious types say THAT STUFF is "sinful".
@kadenwalker51863 жыл бұрын
@@Skulldini Now I can’t say with complete authority what is and isn’t a sin, but personally I believe that most of that stuff is not sinful on its own. A lot of this comes out because some “Christians” try to use the Bible to justify their own beliefs that they already have, things that are completely unbiblical. Now try to imagine a world that is completely moral, without anything bad ever happening. That is what the world was like before sin was introduced into the world in the garden of eden. Adam and Eve lived completely blameless lives up until that moment that they were tempted by satan. That’s what Heaven will be like. We will live in the immediate presence of God, in a completely perfect world.

When we were little I asked my older sister who was practically a catholic zombie what we did in heaven and she told me that we all sit in a circle around god and worship him forever and I was mortified I thought my entire existence would basically be an eternal mass session and then I tried not to think of it that way and now 7 years later I’m watching this video about a guy with the same question

Flesh is temporary and we all have a date with death. The spirit is forever and you will know that your flesh is dead. Thousands of accounts of people who were clinically dead and lived to tell about it. Don't believe me, Google it and decide for yourself.

I grew up "learning" a lot of these "facts" about Heaven, so I can answer some of the questions. 1. We will receive new, "glorified" bodies and be in the prime of life forever. 4. Yes, aborted babies are said to go to Heaven. 6. Jealousy is a mortal sin, and thus will not exist in Heaven. 7. We will not need to eat in Heaven, and we probably won't even want to. 9. Again, we'll all have perfect bodies in Heaven. 11. You just might - and you'd forgive that person, because you'd be ecstatic you're both there. 12. In Heaven you would never have that kind of attitude. 14. According to Islam, they do. Or at least that's implied. 21. Women love sex just as much as men. 23. We will all live in "my Father's house," where "there are many rooms." 28. Yes. You will become like God and be omniscient. 31. Heaven is generally thought of as communal, so probably not. 33. We won't have to go to church, because we'll be with God all the time and won't have to go to the trouble of "visiting" Him. 36. Heaven will be EXTREMELY diverse. 37. There will be choirs of angels singing. That's not harp music. At least, the above are what my parents would probably say.

In regard to your #6... "jealously is a mortal sin, and thus will not exist in heaven" statement.... I FIND THAT STATEMENT TO BE INCORRECT! let me explain why. Before God created humans or earth.... when it was just god, Angel's & heaven.... there was a beautiful angel named LUCIFER! HE WAS ONCE AN ANGEL UP IN HEAVEN. HE SUDDENLY BECAME JEALOUS OF GODS POWERS..... and wanted to have the same power that god had.... so he was THROWN OUT OF HEAVEN ALONG WITH 2/3 (OR SOME BIG FRACTION) OF THE ANGELS THAT WENT WITH HIM... DOWN TO HELL! AT LEAST THATS WUT THEY TELL US ...... SO APPARENTLY THERE WAS JEALOUSY IN HEAVEN IF THE STORY IS TRUE ABOUT LUCIFER BEING AN ANGEL THAT WAS CAST DOWN .... WHICH IS A FULL BLOWN CONTRADICTION.... CUZ JEALOUSY IS A SIN, AND HOW CAN SIN EVEN EXIST IN HEAVEN? IT DOESNT... WHICH MAKES THIS WHOLE STORY EXTREMEMY UNBELIEVABLE & FAKE

We cannot imagine it because it makes no sense because it's a silly story.

From the descriptions that I get from most religious types whom I encounter, Heaven is populated with nothing but these dumb formless talentless clone-like entities that are continually blissful and happy for NO REASON. They do NOT DO anything nor EXPERIENCE anything, they're just "happy pappy joy joy" automatically and perpetually.

Bible says a lot about heaven. We will build our own homes(in our new bodies that never get sick, damaged, or anything bad), grow our own food, explore the new world God makes for us, talk to anyone and everyone there(including God), learn, interact with Gods animals(that are friendly and don’t eat meat). There is likely more that I can’t recall, but it sounds perfect to me. Also we are naturally happy in a state of constant joy.

What about loved ones who died outside the religion. Do you just forget them? That's sick
@liamkanafani9285 Жыл бұрын
@@TruthSpeaker. Good question, In Revelation 21:4 God said he would wipe away the tears from every being. There will be no pain or suffering. So when we first get to heaven we will be crying over the loved ones that didn't make it, but then God will wipe away our tears and the former things will pass away.

Hey I covered this in one of my You Tube Blogs. Well I asked the same questions. I'll just assume it is "great minds think alike" Only difference is you have many more viewers than I do..
